Moving in amiibos with 10 villagers.

Im just trying to get an idea of how confident I can be that the amiibo will move WHERE THE VILLAGER I ASKED TO MOVE WAS.


Ive never done this before, and i know a lot of you have.

So, in a nutshell, when you have 10 villagers, and ask someone to move out to make space for your amiibo villager, did they:

1. Move in the exact spot as the evicted?

Or

2. Move into a random spot

I might give this a test try for you with one of my cards in my extra town. I have a lot of villagers I need to get rid of, so maybe this'll kill two birds with one stone basically. :P I'll let you know in a few minutes!

No problem! I'm just giving it a few more minutes to see if anyone wants Rolf before I move on. I feel bad just kicking him out after he's been here since the town started, aha. Oh well though, he's just pixels if no one takes him. I've taken a picture of where his house is and I'll take another to where Cobb (my test) moves in.

I just moved in Cece where Tangy was.. Cece moved in directly NEXT to where Tangy's old house was, so... It's not guaranteed.
 
Alright, without even needing to take pictures of where Cobb moved, I can confirm on my end it was completely random. Truffles was a card villager I had to move in because I only had 9. He moved in right next to my mayor's house, and then I replaced Rolf with Cobb. Cobb moved in directly next to Truffles.

You're welcome! I would just do the plot reset method just to be 100% sure they move in where you want them. It'll take extra work but it'll be easier than just crossing your fingers and going with it.

For sure. Good gosh i hope the next game doesnt have this move in problem. Plot resetting is annoying. Even with the patterns. My natural town has patterns all over it. Its ugly lol
 
Once I reached ten villagers and had them in ideal places, I don't need to plot reset every time someone moves out. The new villager just moves in the exact same spot of the previous provided I cover the other possible 3x3 spots with patterns (areas with hybrids, trees, etc), the day before they move in. I'm that confident now, at least in my town haha and it never fails.

Yeaaaaah... it's pretty annoying. I hope they at least let you put down some sort of PWP that indicates where people can move in at, like a sign or a fenced off plot of land like they do when first moving into the town.

that's an interesting concept. I should give that try, just scatter patterns around. The problem with mine however is that I haven't done anything with it so it's all pretty woodsy and what not. All my villagers are in the worst spots possible (five are RIGHT on my mayor's doorstep).

Yeah i mean regardless ill have to leave the patterns down. Im literally ALMOST done with my town. After a year. But ive had to have patterns down this entire time. Its a natural town and it sucks to have to leave these down. But ive been patient this long, a few more weeks wont kill me. Thanks for your help

Well, in my case, it doesn't take me more than 5 mins to cover the spots like okay if I see a group of flowers that makes up a 3x3 spot, I'd just put one pattern in the middle. To be fair, my town is heavily pathed so that's why it's a little bit more convenient for me compared to let's say, a nature themed town that barely has paths and concentrate more on having clovers and natural dirt paths. In the end, I think we could all agree that it is easier to manage the town that's finished or almost done, since by then, you're already familiar and probably have memorized those spots that you need to cover. Butif I'm just starting, have less than 10 villagers and trying to move the houses in the designated spots, I'm still gonna go plot resetting even if I already placed the patterns just to be safe.
