After watching the amazing direct, I was suddenly inspired to really work on my new leaf town, Genovia! It's like we are suddenly on a time crunch, and I want to make it exactly how I'd like in this last month. Cutting down trees, replacing public work projects, redecorating my house. Do you feel the same?

i haven’t played new leaf, but i find it kind of sad that next month, a lot of people will cut back on or even stop playing new leaf entirely- i’m not judging as i’d be doing the same if i still had new leaf, but it’s like all those years of progress and work will be forgotten after the release of new horizons which is kinda sad ahah

I stopped playing ACNL completely as of November 2017, but it?s sad that another legacy has come to an end. Granted, it does get old after playing for so long, but it had its good run as the most recent game.

Yep! That's what I've been doing. I literally just go in to do my PWP, decorate my house, water my flowers, landscape, and hang out with Brewster. I have enough bells in my ABD that I don't have to worry about doing any fishing or anything. I want to update my dream address one last time before March 20th and I want my town to feel done with all the elements I want in it.

Its insane how the long wait we could not handle (Except me) is finally almost at its peak. And yet there's still so much I need to do in my 3 New Leaf towns.

For my main town I still have to finish the rest of the houses and build a new house that has had a template for years.

For the rest of my two towns, they need to be decorated, the usual stuff.

I'm hoping I don't forget and do all that stuff before New Horizons releases.

It is kinda sad this game will be put aside like the rest have been. But I’m so excited for new horizons.

I saw the title of this thread and immediately thought, "Yeah, it's pretty sad- I only have 6 years of NL left."

I always approach new releases like this. NL is still fresh to me since I only just got it last year. I don't plan on playing NH until the game after it starts getting hinted at by Nintendo. hehe

Why wait so late to play new horizons lol

i finished working my new leaf town a few days ago. i hadn't played it properly in a while but i had fun going back and fixing things up. i'm not going to play much now except to have my friend over to my town sometime in march so we can say goodbye to the game

I stopped playing my most recent town in November of last year, mostly due to lack of motivation and the fact I've kinda just run out of things I want to do with the game. I thought about starting up one last town for the next month, but the lack of motivation is still there, sadly.

So I've just been playing Stardew Valley, lol.

don't have a switch and i probably won't for a few years so i don't really feel like i ought to stop playing acnl any time soon? i am very new to the ac series but i think even if a new game comes out, it would still be fun to go back and play the older ones from time to time so i don't think you need to pressure yourself into finishing your town in a short span of time? but it's nice that you're motivated to work on it!!

Sadly I’m pretty burnt out on acnl so I haven’t played it in forever (actually it was just a few days ago but it feels like forever lol) but I rejoined this forum again to find some people to WiFi with and befriend!

I will still be playing New Leaf, but I know when I start playing New Horizons it will be hard to look at New Leaf the same way again. A lot of items have been changed, so I will need to remove the muscle memory of what the old items looked like, and the old customs in general.

Not at the moment - I dropped New Leaf and I don't feel the need to go back to it, yet. Maybe someday I'll want to finish landscaping, but I got bored of the repetitivness, and the memory of New Leaf is still a bit too vivid for me. I feel like I might regret it later, since New Horizons will most definitely take over the popularity that New Leaf had garnered and the online connectivity between players will no longer be free, but it is what it is.

I'm not doing anything different really. I recently found the last painting I need to complete my entire museum and there isn't much stuff to do other than keeping my town in check. I'll admit it's going to be a little sad that we'll move on to the next game, even though we still have our game. It's going to be my first time experiencing this transition.

I’m still planning to play new leaf as I’m going to be sharing a copy of NH with my family so it’ll be nice to still have a town that’s just mine :)

Yeah, it's bittersweet even though I can't exactly relate.

I played New Leaf around a total of 3 times from the day it was released until around the middle of 2018 I think it was before completely giving up on it. (Of course I'd take long breaks though as I just didn't have the patience back then.)

I'd constantly reset, or when I thought I had the perfect map I'd find something later down the line that I didn't like at all. Never completed the museum on any play through but unlocked most of the PwP's. I really didn't do a lot with New Leaf I thought. It was just something that I played when I felt like it.

Because I'm older and more keen, at this point I'm just going to put my all into Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Really looks as if you'll be able to do a lot with the game. I felt limited in New Leaf. I've only played Wild World & New Leaf after all.

Yeah, totally. I came back in December to give the town a true sendoff. I thoroughly landscaped and plotted the outdoors, finalized the houses, and am trying to finish the museum. Just five artworks left!

Yes! Even though I don't have much time with my increased work schedule, I've been chipping away at finally finishing Aurmont, at least. I'd still very much like to get a dream address for it, then maybe have time to start a new town (either a ranch town or an ACNL NPC themed town) before I get super hooked on New Horizons.
