Is Raymond worth all the hype?

I don't think any villager could be worth all the hype Raymond gets. It's a little nutty. Which isn't a ding on Raymond at all; he seems great.

I have him on my island and I think he’s not worth the hype as there are cuter villagers but I enjoy him and understand the appeal. I just don’t think he’s worth the price to get him. :/ I get he’s a cute fancy cat with heterochromia but like, Poppy is a super bright colorful fun squirrel with a house built for an island. I guess I like them pretty equally.

I don't care for the hype around Raymond. I think he's pretty cool tho. Not my favorite smug, but I do like him.

I don't get his popularity, nor that of Marshal to be honest... but to each their own. I have Marshal and like him well enough, but he's not as adorable as some others. And I don't dislike Raymond, just feel indifferent towards him. He's too snobby looking for my tastes and his house is an office.

There's definitely a lot of bandwagoning... next realease it will probably be somebody different.

For me,Raymond was a natural fit.I like cats and the smugs are probably my favorite personality type.I was lucky to get Raymond very early in the game before the hype machine went into high gear.For the most part,I was able to figure out what I thought of him objectively without having to hear a lot from the people that were slobbering over him or the people who thought he was just some overrated cat nerd.He's been an entertaining and fun villager so far and he'll be hanging out on my island for a long time......unless someone offers me 1000 Nook Mile Tickets......(just kidding).

Nah, he isn’t interesting enough for me to see him as a Smug I would want on my island and I don’t get the hype either, other than the different colored eyes. He looks too much of a poser or a snobby rich kid, that would brag about all his followers on Instagram. Not my cup of tea.

I like the more chill looking Smugs, which look like they would brag about something, but are actually super modest. Like if Punchy was a Smug, I would be pretty cool with it.

But hey, if other people like him it’s okay. Everyone has different opinions.

Like Sherb, I am seeing him more as a trading chip for Judy. In fact, I did pass up on Sherb during my previous island hopping session. Because I was looking for someone else.

Look I can understand why he is so popular just like I did when Marshal was the one with all of the hype but I don't think he's worth the unreachable prices and scamming that occurs because of him. He has a cute design that really fits the smug personality, his eyes are a nice detail although I don't find it to be as amazing as others do and he definitely rocks a maid outfit so thats always a bonus. With the similar blonde hair detail to marshal, the eyes and being an office cat you see that the designers knew exactly how to design a new character that would appeal to players based on previous popularity of the cat species as a whole and ofc marshal. So yes, he is a great villager but no, he is not worth all of the hype.

I love his design and smug personalities are one of my favourites, but I don't want him on my island; He doesn't fit the aesthetic of it and I kinda wish the fandom would hype up other villagers besides him. Marshal and Audie on the other hand are the ones I don't see the appeal of, Marshal is just the same Raymond-like white squirrel to me and I don't like Audies' colour choices.

I never thought of buying him because 600 nmt is wayyy too much. But when I was island hopping last friday someone wanted to get rid of him ASAP, and accepted just the amount of tickets I had to island hop, long story short, 5 min later I took him home, and he's even better than I imagined lol and now I'd say he's worth the hype
He's different and I guess that's what makes some villagers special and sought after

I really like his design and his office house interior as it kind of fits in with my city vibe that I'm trying to go for. Although, there are plenty other villagers that have unique designs as well so I put him on par with other cool villagers and don't think he's vastly superior or anything. Basically, he's cool and I like him just as much as the other villagers.

Raymond really isn't my thing, honestly. If I had him on my permanent roster I'd probably stick him next to RS as an accountant or something, because he doesn't really look like he has a home, and his theme doesn't work into anything else.

But think about it... Lucky has a cemitery, Flora has a pond, Pashmina has a Diner, some have sports related houses and alleys... Sooo many villagers houses make no sense

I love Raymond but he shouldn’t be crazy expensive. Especially if he says the same thing as any other smug. To add more I understand why he’s popular though. He’s a cat and if you haven’t notice already cats are one of the most popular animals on earth. He’s a smug, a personality that a lot of people love including myself. His heterochromia. He has a anime vibe to him. When I first saw him, my instant thought of him was “Omg he looks like Byakuya Togami from Danganronpa!!!” and that’s what drew me into him.

people like Raymond, especially since I have him on my island. What I don't get is people charging obscene prices for him and scamming people out of their currency. I mean c'mon, business cat is a good villager and all but this craziness needs to stop.

I think part of the reason why people are charging ridculously high prices for him is because he doesn't have an amiibo and also when a large amount of people think something is "valuable" more and more people follow that mentality even when they might not think so themselves

raymond is great, i adore him and i'm very happy i spent hours using the campsite trick to find him. that being said, he's only "worth the hype" if you find him interesting/want him on your island. his design is really cute & i love cats, so i knew he'd be worth it for me. you do you.

also i don't think any villager is worth a ridiculous price like 1000 NMT or 40 million bells or whatever. that's wack, no matter what villager it is, and i hate seeing so many greedy people.

Oh, I know. It's not that I require all villagers to have house homes, but business cat just doesn't have a theme that works with my island. Nor does Lucky or Pashmina for that matter. Flora actually does work with my aesthetic, though.
