If you reset would you change your clock back to March 20th?

I would not set my clock back to March 20 if I reset my island, which I have no plans of doing. I started over a lot in new leaf and I never set it back to the original start date. I personally prefer it to show how much time I actually spent on that island or town instead of just the original release date of the game, even if that was when I started playing! I also really don't want to time travel on my island, because once I start, I don't think I'd be able to stop from doing that whenever I wanted.

I'd never reset my island and have to go through the tutorial hell again. I also wouldn't lie about when I started my island.

It seems like a lot of people reset to march 20th and actually time traveled day-by-day to collect recipes and other things they may have missed on their new island! It sounds fun however I would most likely get carried away with all of the time travel. I haven’t decided if I will be doing this when I reset, but if I did I would most likely just jump to the correct date right after.

If I was to restart now, I could probably see myself doing that to play catch up since it has only been 4 months from release and the season is still summer so there isn't a big change jumping from spring. Otherwise I would just restart on the date that I am at. But I am delaying starting over until next march if I am wanting to reset.

Personally no, as I like to play the game on the current day and would want that reflected on my passport too!

This is going to sound kind of silly, but I have actually switched the date back to March 20th on my current file. I have been doing this every time I get a new villagers so that they show up earlier in the line-up (when you look at the villagers on the map). For example, I got Kevin on March 20th, as he was my starter jock. So if I move in another villager around the same time, they will always be right after Kevin in the lineup.

This is helpful if anyone is particular about where villagers fall, or even if you move out a starter because their house was crappy, but still want them back as the first villager in your line-up.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but that's where I stand when it comes to changing the clock back to March 20th. :)

I was gonna start in april 1st and reset as well!! Then time travel to catch up.. because I will need all the cherry blossom recipes !!! And the wedding event stuff!!!!

Ah that is really interesting! I am terrible at remembering what order villagers moved in -- so this is so cool! Thank you for sharing!

No, but I ever reset I’m going with Southern Hemisphere so that cherry blossom and egg-pocalypse don’t overlap.
That’s part of the reason why I’m making my new island SH. I’ve been interested in using the SH ever since they announced it. The only reason I didn’t make it SH is because my parents wanted NH and this game was a birthday present to them.

Also, maple leaf and mushroom season are basically in a dead zone for holidays in SH, whereas NH is going to have both right during Thanksgiving. I shudder at how THAT’S going to work...

Yikes! I wish I knew about mushroom & maple leave season overlapping when I started.

I definitely would! otherwise I would feel like I missed out

then again, we're four months later and that might be a bit much to catch up on
but if you have the time I definitely would go back to sakura season ^-^

I don't think I would. My first New Leaf town was started on May 29th, 2014 and a year later it corrupted and had to be deleted, but when I restarted I just started on what the date was at that time (July 25th, 2015). So even though my current New Leaf town was "started' in July 2015 I've been playing since May 2014.

That's what I did. Sorta. I just kept playing from the 20th. Actually, I'm still in June because of this decision since I don't time travel often. Though, I'm inching closer to the correct date!

I wouldn’t because it seems disingenuous to me. Not toward other players, but to my own experience.

The date of my Island’s founding is what really matters to me. It’s not like I’ll forget when I bought the game, and I don’t think that date needs to be celebrated specifically. The founding is special to me though, because it marks the day I established my Island and started the journey toward developing it. I’d like the anniversary to reflect that progress.

As far as items go I’d just rather wait until those early events come around again next year. Some people have other priorities and that’s fine, but to me an authentic start now in July is better than a fake one in spring.

Exactly this! I just restarted my island very recently and setting the time back was not even a consideration. I care about when I found the new island and made it mine. Not when I bought the game or found my original island. Anything I want from past seasonal events I can wait to get naturally or buy/trade for them if I really really want something. I also greatly prefer playing the game in real time.

I would have never thought to start over at March 20th lol. Your reasoning makes sense though!

The thought of resetting at all is stressful, having to get all those DIYs again.. no thanks
