I thought I was out of ideas and inspiration with my first island, so I spent extra money I really shouldn't have spent on a second Switch. But now, I'm finding more and more stuff I want to do on my main island and less things I want to do on my second island. I've thought about selling my second Switch, but I think I should keep it as a spare in case anything happens to my first Switch.

But other than that, I can't think of any other reason to justify owning a second Switch. Simply put, I'm not feeling too inspired with this second island. Have you guys started a second island and soon got tired of it?

I got my second island in late July after months of deliberation. I think I made the right decision, as I’ve been REALLY enjoying having an island of my own. The main thing is I had multiple factors that built into this decision mostly stemming from our main switch being shared, meaning I had only partial control over the island. Overall, I think it was worth the investment for me. However, I don’t think it’s for everybody, and if you’re the sole owner of your first island I would probably warn against it (I consider my second island my “main island” for example)

if not using it, could maybe set up the island as a diy dump, open it up at set times for people to come and ditch diys and browse for ones they are missing. since aren't using the island wouldn't even need to monitor the coming and goings to make sure they dont steal anything they arent supposed to

I can’t even handle my one island.
I would say continue to work in your main island, and once you have completely decorated it, you might want to play the second with a completely different idea or theme :)

I have somewhat of a similar situation, my husband has gradually lost interest in his island and I was looking forward to (at least mostly) taking it over so I would have another whole island to decorate, another set of villagers, etc.

but I never run out of things to do in my first island, and I find when I am going to playI want to invest the time in my own island and my own villagers. So then the other island doesn’t progress at all and there is more and more to do, and I want to think of new ideas, but also ones that I’m not excited enough about to do on my own island and then it’s kind of overwhelming and I have another reason I don’t want to play that island, because I hate the feeling of neglecting it.

so yeah, I feel like I understand how you feel. I guess I just love my first island too much.

I had grand ideas for having 2 islands but ultimately gave up terraforming on my second island lol it was hard enough to terraform one island, I couldn’t bring myself to slog through 2 islands worth of terraforming

I use my second island for cycling amiibos for my friends and for keeping some of the new villagers just in case I decide to give them away. It’s nice to have extra storage even if it’s a bit inconvenient and my bf helps with getting extra points in the tourneys using the second switch (it’s his to start with anyways lol)

I replied No, but I actually do have two switches and have contemplated starting a second island to play the beginning of the game again, which I thought was really fun.

And much as I love AC, the hell am I paying another £300 for another switch and £60 for another copy of the game.

Don’t get me wrong, I have no problems supporting great titles. I’ve brought Skyrim 3 times now just so I can have a copy on my Xbox, laptop and switch and I brought multiple copies of New Leaf.

But New Horizons just isn’t that good in my opinion.

no way, switches and the switch lite are far too expensive just to buy another copy of animal crossing. i've said this before, but it sucks how they've made it so we can only have one island per console, but it is how it is.
i love the game but i'm struggling to even design the whole of my current island and the way i'm constantly changing things always gives me something to do.

I had a second town in NL and I couldn't commit to having two. I'd personally never get a second island because that requires getting a second Switch which is really expensive.

In the first few months I played I really wanted a second switch since I only have the switch lite. I nearly ordered one a half dozen times. In the end I'm kind of glad I didn't because I'm not finding I really have the time to do a second island or really want a second one since my main island can always be switched up. I'd say now I'm 75% sure I don't want another island. If I were to upgrade my switch I'd think about it but I'm not going to do that just for the purpose of getting a second island. I totally understand why someone would want two or more, though!

I have a second island only because my SO didn’t enjoy playing the game so I took over his island as well. Lol

My main island is very woodsy/witchy/cluttered themed and I love it. But sometimes I want something different but don’t want to change everything. This is where having a second island is nice. The second island theme I’m working towards making it very open, French-city inspired.

I will admit terraforming all over again is very exhausting. But since it’s my secondary island, I don’t stress as much about it. I take my time with both island and work on one when I don’t feel like working on the other.

No, I don't want a second island just because that's overwhelming and too costly. I mean, there's one point I wanted to buy a Switch lite just because it'd be more travel friendly.

I guess you could just treat your second switch as the travel switch? I don't have much advice for this.

I've used my old launch switch for my second island and I bought the digital version of the game for it. That's where I do all of my TT, grinding for materials/art/Gulliver and trades so having a second island has been a super boon for me. It's very useful because I don't have to be on my main switch (the ACNH Special Edition) all of the time.

I didn't bother unlocking anything or decorating my second island. No need whatsoever because that's what my main island is for: actually playing the game and having fun.

I voted "no way" though the idea of having a second switch seems nice. I have a few ideas that I can't implement in my current town due to space constraints.
