What are your opinions on treasure islands?

I have never used one! I find them kind of overwhelming. But I’ve also never finished an island, and never felt satisfied with anything I’ve made. I would consider using one now that I’ve reset my island again fresh for 3.0! But I don’t think anyone should feel guilty nor judgmental of how someone else wants to play the game, either way!!

About 20 years ago, I used to cheat (only in single player games like Pokemon) and time travel in wild world, and it ruined the experience for me, because I realised once you have the end result, it becomes pointless.

Golden tools for example, I rarely care about them, but obtaining them? That’s memorable. So I don’t care for anything that skips the journey good or bad anymore, as it only cheats myself.

I also like to know things are obtained legitimately in my game these days, so I rarely trade or interact with others for that reason.

All that said, to each their own.

I'm returning to this game after several several months as the community gets ready for 3.0 so I'm hearing about treasure islands for the first time. Bottom line, just like time travel, it comes to personal choice.

PS: I love the book and I read it at least once a year.

I'm an active treasure island user since I reset my island for the 2.0 update and I genuinely didn't wanna play the RNG game of getting my most wanted DIYS and furniture sets so I decided to cave in to treasure islands but in the back of my head I always thought "am I defeating the purpose of this game and will people frown at the thought of me relying on hacked islands to decorate my entire island." As in I feel like people will scrutinize my island because I didn't actually "work hard" on my island and just simply got it the easy way.

Even if I relied on treasure islands it was still hard to make use of the items I got and have ideas for my island but I know there's a vocal minority who're purists and even get genuinely upset at the mere thought of just time traveling.

The thing is I already played ACNH naturally during my first island and decorated by actually collecting everything naturally ingame or trading and I did minimal time traveling so I genuinely didn't wanted to do all of that again on my second island. Anyways that's my experience and weird relationship with treasure islands but what are your thoughts on them?

I honestly go to them for Nook Miles Tickets only and that's really it. Other than that, I don't have a huge problem with them at all. And it's understandable why people go to them. It's kinda a chore for me to grind all nook miles just for tickets.

i think people should enjoy the game how they want, but for me i think not participating in things like treasure islands helps with the longevity of how long i continue playing the game vs getting bored
