Well, I was the girl who always stayed faaaaaaar away from her crushes but...

Like everyone else is saying, strike up a conversation. Casually mention a mutual interest, but act like you don't know that he likes it. :3 After a few conversations, ask to hang out sometime or do homework together, or something. I think it'd be a good idea to become friends, but like everyone else is saying, watch that friend zone (even though being best friends first is actually better because then you know if you truly like them as a person :T)

When you feel like he's receptive, tell him how you feel! Otherwise, you'll never know if you guys could have been a couple. If he does like you in that way, congrats! If not, then tell him you like him as a person and want to keep being friends, if he's okay with that. Good luck, let us know how it turns out! ^^

I think I know what I'm going to do now, I'll talk to him at school and on facebook, but I'll start of small like saying 'Hi' when we see each other around school and then build that up in to proper conversations, but either way I'll be happy if we only get as far as friends.

Anyway, try asking him on Facebook first. It's easier than doing it in person, and usually more comfortable, for both people.
