Say after countless hours you finally obtain your ultimate dreamie villager... Then what?

How strict are you once your new villager arrives on your island? Do you try to keep them 100% original or are you going to let them live like all the other animal on your island? I made a poll with some of the things I know people restrict with their villagers. The poll has no limit to how many options you can vote on so just check all of the ones you do. Feel free to also comment on why you do the things you do, or what your personal opinion in general is on the matter.

Do pristine 100% original houses matter do you? Would you have to get rid of your dreamie if they got delivered a horrid piece of clothing? ...or is just having the villager to begin with enough for you.

I also added a tiny bonus round question at the end since I'm curious how important being 100% original is when people adopt/buy their dreamies.

I do none of these now so i guess i won't vote?

Goldie wants my sea bass? sure
raymond wants it? sure
their house is ruined? nope i gift them even more stuff so they replace it
they display clothes? gift them more stuff

everybody is terribly unoriginal!!! yay!

It really doesn't make it or break it if the villager is unoriginal to me. The only times I'm strict with them is the type of clothing they wear. I don't care much about custom designs and catchphrases, they can just be changed by talking to isabelle, but the clothing has to be acceptable, at least. I dont give villagers clothing because I lack taste in choosing stuff for them, lol. If I ever give them clothes, ill just look up outfits on wiki or something to see what would go with them

I personally don’t mind any changes made to my dreamies. I keep them as is mostly, but I do gift them what I think would look nice on them or in their home. I don’t change the catch phrases mainly because I like their personality in them and I don’t think of better ones.

I give them stuffs I think fits and change their catch phrases.

I do not do deliveries, sell furnitures/insects/fishes. I also do not adopt, everyone of them has to be found via camp or island. I only buy their amiibo if I need space on the island so that I can scan them back in the future.

I totally forgot to include the "go wild" option so I added that.
Sadly the poll formatting is a bit wonky now but you can now go vote for giving your dreamie no limits.

I would be so bored if I ignored the already-scarce opportunities to connect with my villagers just to preserve an aesthetic. Sometimes they make regrettable home decor choices, but that just contributes to the feeling that they’re more than puppets for me to dress up.

I don't do any of these! :D

I like fulfilling their requests, and it's funny seeing how they arrange stuff around their house, especially since they move stuff around all the time! Atm I only have one design in my Ables (from someone else, it's a NB pride hoodie), but I love seeing them wear it & I plan on filling those slots one day. New catchphrases are fun, I just give them stuff that they can spread around no problem! And I love giving my villagers clothes & furniture that go well with them <3

I'm about half and half when it comes to things I do restrict and things that I dont. I dont gift them any furniture or do any requests for fish and bugs, but I do gift them clothing I like and I may sometimes change their catchphrase, if I dislike their current one.

I don't think I'm too strict with my villagers. I usually don't let them have fish and stuff (I feel really bad about it when they ask), but other that that it's kinda whatever! I love gifting them clothing in particular. I think it's super cute to see them walking around in outfits you gave them. I honestly spend too long picking out stuff for all my villagers 😅. I prefer adopting originals because I like choosing everything to gift them. They don't have to be 100% original to adopt though, as long as they don't have anything crazy.

A good tip to preview clothes is to go to Harv's island and dress your villager up there. I admit I do this for Pietro, but for my other villagers I sometimes just give clothes out of the blue that I think could work

I agree on the catchphrases. All of mine have original ones just because it feels like a personality trait for them and I can never figure out a more fitting one.

Thank you for adding the poll option

my dreamies will be happy on my island even if their home is seabass :')

Sometimes.... true happiness... is having an imprisoned seabass.

I feel like I'm not really strict with them at all. I only keep their catchphrases original, but that's because I like their catchphrases and I can never think of a new one!
I give them pretty much whatever when I know they are staying for good.

I like to carefully choose the clothing and furniture they receive, so I don't do deliveries or give catchphrases since those can spread too 😬

Unoriginalness for you!
Unoriginalness for you!
EVERYBODY GETS SEA BASS AND OTHER STUFF THEY ASKED FOR

;-; i give them anything they want
i don't want to make them sad so if i accidentally press "this is yours" i dont want them to be disappointed so i close the game

I gave them whatever they want, whether it is expensive or cheap. :ROFLMAO:
Like that one time Sprinkle want to trade my arowana with a polo shirt, I said ok.
Or that one time Elvis want to buy my magic set, I also said ok, even though I knew something in his house will be replaced (and it was the golden dish set).
I gave them clothes almost daily according to their favourite colours or whatever I think it would suit them...but sometimes it would backfire (mostly Flurry because I underestimated how the patterns stretched and how short the clothes would become), and it is very fun and hilarious.
I also gift them furnitures if I think it suit their houses, especially the first few villagers who are still in starter homes.
In the end, I am just a yes woman in front of them...unless they want to leave, which is definitely a no!

I know people have different ways of playing and certainly everyone has their own opinions on how they want to cherish their dreamies, so just enjoy yourself as there are never right or wrong way to spend time with your dreamies!

I don't adopt villagers. I just wait for a camper or find them on a mystery item. I am very careful about the clothes and furniture I give them

I think I've started to care just a little bit more about my villagers' houses. Maybe it's the good graphics? I give my starter villagers furniture to replace their starter furniture and I'm pretty proud of my progress in that so far. Another benefit of starter houses - I'll never have to worry about them being unoriginal, lol!

I do try to give my villagers fitting clothes - I've started taking them to Harv's when they first move in and trying stuff on so ik what to give them. Rodney... has so many clothes now, lol. I mean if a villager gifts them something ugly I'm not gonna throw a fit about it, but I'd prefer that to not happen haha. Good thing Billy's the only villager who has an instant-muscles suit...

At least for Rodney in particular atm, being the only other "dreamie" I have besides my starter villagers, I do care about his furniture because he's replaced his furniture with the three different pairs of glasses I've given him, so now I want to go get that stuff back for him. It's not so much keeping them original as it is making sure their house just looks good. I'll let them have fish and bugs, preferably the prettier ones, because they just put them on tables and stuff, but furniture is finicky, especially when the clothes/accessories end up replacing them.
