I play to have fun, and I like giving them items 🤷‍♀️

I understand that some people wants them to be original, so if I give them away I write that they ar enot original, so the new owner is aware. And I don't usually take a villager from another player, I like to go on the villager hunt too much for that.

Then again, I don't really have a "dreamie list", but many, many villagers that I would like to have one day.

I think I've started to care just a little bit more about my villagers' houses. Maybe it's the good graphics? I give my starter villagers furniture to replace their starter furniture and I'm pretty proud of my progress in that so far. Another benefit of starter houses - I'll never have to worry about them being unoriginal, lol!

I do try to give my villagers fitting clothes - I've started taking them to Harv's when they first move in and trying stuff on so ik what to give them. Rodney... has so many clothes now, lol. I mean if a villager gifts them something ugly I'm not gonna throw a fit about it, but I'd prefer that to not happen haha. Good thing Billy's the only villager who has an instant-muscles suit...

At least for Rodney in particular atm, being the only other "dreamie" I have besides my starter villagers, I do care about his furniture because he's replaced his furniture with the three different pairs of glasses I've given him, so now I want to go get that stuff back for him. It's not so much keeping them original as it is making sure their house just looks good. I'll let them have fish and bugs, preferably the prettier ones, because they just put them on tables and stuff, but furniture is finicky, especially when the clothes/accessories end up replacing them.

Instant-Muscles suit is the only reason I always save before I do deliveries. My power button is ready to be pressed the second I see that pop up.

Also it warms my heart to see someone treat Rodney like a king. He gets waaaaay too much hate. He's just a little hamster boy... trying to live his best life.

I don't give catchphrases, but that's mostly because I'm bad at coming up with them. Everything else is free game

Out of those, the only thing I don't do is fulfill requests involving fish or bugs. Not only with my dreamies but with any other villager, unless I don't really care about them. Luckily I like all villagers I've had/I still have, so this rule still applies. I'm also pretty wary of delivery requests, but I do them anyway. Worst case scenario, it's an ugly sweater they'll rarely wear because they won't like it lol.
I also try to give them fitting clothes I've checked they'll like so they won't look like walking clowns.

My aim is to collect multiple villager photos so I just give them whatever they want, tbh. If they ask to trade/buy items, I usually partake as well unless they want to sell me something I really don't need or want or want to exchange an expensive fish or bug for a mystery item, which usually ends up being something cheap or ugly.
I try to gift them clothing that they like (color and style) but will also sometimes gift them items that I LIKE. lol...

i really don't care at all about keeping any of my villagers original. the only exception being raymond, and i only want to keep his original catchphrase. but i do like to trade for original villagers, mostly bc i only trade for villagers to save myself from the time-suck that is villager hunting. but i still want an original villager because i want to develop my own story with them.. not necessarily have it begin elsewhere if that makes sense!

I'm not worried about preserving originality, but I do kind of curate what I give them to match their personalities, so I give furniture and clothes that suit them and usually avoid insects/fish and delivery quests.

If it's a dreamie that I'm most likely going to keep forever/a very long time, I don't limit anything. At that point, they're 'my' villager, so I don't see the need to be strict about keeping them original. It's different with villagers that I intend to eventually trade, though.

I give my dreamies clothes, but I don’t change their catchphrase because I think it’s already perfect and suits them. I will not adopt them unless they are original because I’d like to be in charge of what I give them, lastly I don’t give any of my villagers any furniture because I don’t want to mess up their interior or aesthetic of their home, I only give wreaths.

Depends... some like Marshal,.Fauna, and Flurry have beautiful homes that I don't want to mess up. So I don't gift much at all, and I've left their clothes original.

Some like Flora, Marina, Zucker, and Boots whose homes I don't really like, I've been gifting furniture to fix it up. It's going.... okay. 😅

Clothes only if I have something great in mind or I dislike their outfit. Fish and bugs never, for anyone.

I give away anything, let them buy any fish or bug, give them clothes. Sometimes I press buttons too fast and end up giving the wrong piece of clothing, which usually ends up with that villager wearing a hilariously non-suiting outfit for them. But to me, thats part of the experience. It should be a bit random, it should be a natural progression. Why have a villager if all you're going to do is put it on a pedestal and not touch it? If I wanted to do that, I can just buy some amiibo or something.

The only time I refused was when I was redecorating my island and was picking up and dropping off stuff everywhere and one of my villagers wanted to buy one of the things I was moving...

As far as I can tell, they never display fish/bugs they specifically request from you to catch, only fish bugs that they buy from you, so I do the fish/bug requests for the friendship points but I dont let them buy bugs/fish off me lol

I love giving them clothes and furniture that I think suits them!

I basically only gift them clothes that I know will look good on them based on Harv’s island, and rarely any furniture. I never do delivery quests and keep most of my villagers very close to their original state 😅

I'll give them clothes (only shirts, no hats) but that's about it. I've given some of my villagers a few pieces of furniture/fish/bugs and I really regret doing that so I stopped. When I give them a gift I usually give them something like wrapped fruit, they like that just the same as any other gift.

I haven't had any of my villagers ask to change their catchphrase but when they start asking I'll deny them. I like my villagers to keep the catchphrase they started with, though I'm not super strict with that (some of my NL villagers had funny catchphrases).

I usually love to gift my villagers clothes that I pick out for them since I don't love a lot of my permanent villager's default clothing. Villager requests tend to give them clothes I hate so I like to avoid doing them whenever possible.

I sometimes give them furniture, but bugs and fish are an absolute no mainly because they usually replace something in their house that I actually like bc my luck lol

So I guess I'm strict with them but oh well lol. A lot of them have really nice houses that I don't want to mess up.

I try not to mess up their houses, but if they request something I'll go do it for them. Done with giving daily insects though. Now just gifting fruit and iron wall lamps.
