Have you played chess? Do you play it often? Do you like chess? How do you feel about online chess compared to using a board?

I honestly haven't played chess much, but I've played it more recently with a friend, and it's fun enough!

I play chess. Rarely. I know the basic rules, which really helps in solving chess-related puzzles in videogames. I don’t know about the other complex rules like castling or something.

I haven’t played chess in a while, but it’s okay. I like other board games better, and chess is a very stressful game (especially if you play with someone that’s better than you).

I learned chess in 3rd grade for school. I think it’s useful to know how to play especially because it’s such a classic. it’s also not a “hobby” of mine but it’s fun to play with friends when there’s a board around

I have mixed feelings about chess. It’s a fun game, I know the rules and moves, so I should love it, right? Pfft.

The problems i have with chess:

It's hard to wait while the other person takes their turn. I don't have the patience or the focus. I just end up daydreaming while i wait for my turn. Drives me crazy to just sit there. No can do.

Having my plans ruined. So i see a chain of moves, have a brilliant plan, and the other person doesn't follow my plan. 🙄 Then i have to redo the whole thing. Repeat.

A certain person who likes to play but just goes murder happy - to the point where it's just two kings and a couple of pawns in a race.

Losing to my kids. They were curious, so we taught them the moves and omg, they're naturals. They have the focus and planning skills that I'm missing. Not long after they learned, there was a tournament (all ages) in the library on the day we went. They played and got 2nd and 3rd place. When i played with them, I lost. Every. Single. Time.

I think I'm more of a checkers person.

My dad adores chess but I've never been a huge fan of it myself. He taught me how to play at one point, but I just found it kind of stressful and didn't really enjoy it. I still know how the pieces move but that's pretty much it; I can't really follow along with watching other people play either 😅 It all goes right over my head.

Chess is pretty fun! I played in a chess club as a kid and was pretty good, but its been so long that I'm no longer pretty good haha. One day maybe ill pick it back up!

I’ve played it once and I’m still not sure exactly how to play it, so I don’t really have an opinion on it.

i took a chess class during a summer enrichment program in elementary school. i remember my 2nd grade teacher taught the class and showed us all these cool strategies. i wish i’d continued learning and practicing after that because it seems really fun if you know what you’re doing

never learned to play it sorry 😭 i was too intimidated as a kid and now im all grown up so idk if i still wanna learn oops

Ive played it, its fun from time to time. I wouldn't say I'm good.. maybe average?

I would like to like it, I like strategy games, but it gives me headache and I have enough after 15min.

I do enjoy it but I'm not very good at it so sometimes I just get a bit bleh after a while. I feel really guilty though because I do have a chess board but don't use it enough. Maybe I should try to look into learning how to play better.

I would like to learn 3D chess sometime (popularized by Star Trek, but apparently it had existed elsewhere prior to that)!

I like chess! I tend to have fun with it whenever I play it. I was taught how to play it while I was in Grade 6. I'm definitely an okay player and know some basic openings/strategies, but I'd get crushed by people better than me, lol. For the most part I just play it against computers when I'm in the mood for chess. Online chess is nice for being able to better strategize and plan your moves, though there is definitely something nicer and more natural about using an actual chess board, lol.

I love chess. I've played it online, with friends, and in person.

As for my skill level, I'm very average. (I bounce around 1,000 ELO on chess.com).

We have a couple chess boards but I'm really bad at it. My partner wins everytime so I gave up pretty quick
