choosing 10 to live at your town is a lot !! i only have like.. a fav or two and the rest pretty much grew on me

how did you decide on your dreamies? did you scroll through the list and pick out the ones you liked? did you have history with them? share your stories!

I don’t really have any dreamies list because I preferred just going through the islands and taking home any villagers which I really liked because it just feels more special that way imo. I got extremely lucky with island hopping and I’ll be keeping the current 10 I’ve got. But if I could choose other villagers to add to my island it would be Nibbles, Whitney, Stitches, Static and Wolfgang. They were my best friends and fave villagers in Wild World and they have a lot of sentimental value to me.

All of my current villagers just moved in randomly and they grew on me. Except Gayle I moved her in via Amiibo. She's been my dreamie since New Leaf. She was always such a sweetheart to me in my old town. What actually made her my dreamie was when she decided to give me a gift and it was exactly what I had been looking for, a Dolly. And to make it sweeter, it was the Dolly she had displayed in her home so she had given me her own personal Dolly. I have loved her since.

Majority are from my attachment to them in the old games (Rolf, Sterling, Rod). Then there are some that are my first encounters but they grew on me (Rudy, Punchy, Elvis).

Attachments and design preferences! Kitt, Cookie and Julian were ones I had in New Leaf, and I was absolutely attached to them, especially Cookie and Kitt. The rest of them were ones I saw and adored, and I imagine I will grow attached to them just the same ;u;

I based a lot of mine off of the Animal Crossing movie since it had such a big impact on me as a kid. Rosie, however, was actually my first villager ever in Gamecube days so I was surprised she was featured in the movie.

I did want some new faces though and shamelesly love the designs of Judy and Raymond. Idc about the hate people have for them.

I needed at least 1 of each personality, I also tried to diversify the species and themes. I went through all the villagers, selected 50 that stuck out, looked at the most popular villager listing to see if there were good ones I missed, then I narrowed it down to 20 or so. I invited all 20 to my island and tested if they were a good fit.

My signature are those who survived.

As I've said before on a few threads, the closest I had to a dreamie was Bill (like, well before the official announcement of NH). He was the only villager I really "had" to have.

Then I started the game and decided to go with whatever the game threw at me (well, kinda: I did the island hopping thing once, to replace one of my ten original villagers).

I was fortunate enough to be given some villagers that both fit the theme of the island and that I ended up liking them. This was the case with my two crankies, Camofrog and Fang. These two are locked in and are permanent residents of Kupoland.

My two starters were Phoebe and Antonio. I liked them both, but as I have decided that I wouldn't have two jocks on the island, Antonio will sadly depart when Bill comes to Kupoland. Phoebe will stay, as there's only 3 Uchi villagers that I like (the others being Cherry and Agnes), and as I won't have multiples of the same species - my lazy will be Walker so Cherry is off the board - and Agnes doesn't fit the theme, there's no other Uchi I would rather have.

As I've said, Walker is my lazy of choice, which means Alfonso will end up moving out of the island when that dog finds it's way to my island. Even though I like Alfonso - and my nephew apparently loves him now, which makes it harder to let him leave - I like Walker a lot more, though I admit that Alfonso fits the island's theme a lot better than Walker.

One of my 5 starters, Felicity is the only peppy I have. Just like Walker, she doesn't exactly fit the theme very well, but I like her. I'll end up putting Felicity and Walker closer to the more developed, man-made part of the island, as they're not wild animals. It also makes a lot more sense to put Felicity near the plaza and stores, cause as a peppy, she's all about being famous, so I'll let her live her dreams of being the "big city girl".

Marina came as a result of my island hopping - got her with my last ticket while looking for a smug to replace Tex. I decided to let her stay permanently, as she is the only villager that could live near the beach without looking out of place.

Megan was one of my 5 starters, I like her a lot, and despite her having a default, boring house, she won't leave.

That means I have 3 normals because I also have Marcie. It's hard to let her leave because I liked her a lot. She's a sweetheart, but three normals is a bit too much. Especially when I still need a smug.

My current snooty is Soleil. She's a hamster and that means she doesn't fit the theme at all. She's going to be replaced by Pecan, one day.

Same as New Leaf lol x

I have all the same ha ha -

Julian / Tia / Deidre / Fauna / Diana / Marshal / Stitches / Maple / Ruby / Rosie

For NH I wanted to try and keep as many spots as I could open for new villagers that I had never had but liked the aesthetics of. The only exceptions are Bob and Roscoe who are my all time faves and I've had them in my towns since WW, they are my babie

I got Kid Cat and Marshal on my Pocket Camp and I love them both so much from then on. Didn't even know they're really popular. For Raymond, I saw his design and he's a cat so he's a must have for me. I haven't got a final list though. I might do some island hopping once complete my golden trio.

I don't have dream villagers. The word "dreamie" makes me cringe every time I see it written.

I've a couple of villagers I really like—one of those being Lobo: he was the first villager I ever saw in ACWW and 13/14yo me was devastated when he moved—but I am not on an active mission to find them. I've never planned my villagers.

i forced myself to pick my faves from each personality, then narrow it down to about five of each, then get it down to ten, optimally with 1 of each personality. i didn't put any of my new leaf villagers on the list even though i love them because i had already experienced them as neighbors. there are a ton of villagers i still really like that didn't make my final list that are up for consideration if i ever hypothetically let a villager go (which i probably won't, and if i ever do, i'll probably pick up a normal since they're the ones i cut for my army of smugs and i felt so bad when i didn't try to get lolly when she was in my campsite because she came so close to making the list). it took a very strong will to make my list though lol, but it made getting villagers i like a lot easier. i think part of the reason i got bored of new leaf was because i didn't love a lot of my villagers (missing mint and doc for sure though), and the ones i really didn't like felt like a burden because the collector in me felt the need to get their pics. like seriously, i loved cherry but she randomly moved out while i kept denying moose's ask to move out because he wouldn't give me his pic...

anyway, to cut the rant short, i forced myself to select ten based on the personalities. makes it easier in the long run to collect all diys and reactions (part of why i'm thinking of dropping a villager for a normal)

first, i knew i wanted daisy, bob, and jeremiah because i'm attached to them from other games. to fill the rest of the list, i tried to find at least one of every personality type and looked through lists to find the designs that appealed to me most

My dreamy list kinda grew as I played, I knew I wanted Bob, Kyle, and Apollo for sure for my initial dreamies, but I decided I wanted Whitney, Marina, and Raymond later. I kept Jitters, Pashmina, and Stitches from my pool of starter characters. And last, I invited Audie from a mystery island because she seemed awesome. When I was deciding on a final roster, I wanted one of each personality and a couple extra, so that helped influence my decision.

Well if you have ever had another AC game then your probably attached to some villagers, for me I loved Bob and Diana. the rest of my town is basically villagers I thought looked nice and invited, others are too cute to kick out

I mostly look through a list and picked out villagers that I thought would be good on my island, but the reason Purrl is my dreamie is because she shares a birthday with me (I wonder what happens if you share a B-day with a villager) and I chose Zell because he already lived on my island and he grew on me.

My permanent villagers were chosen based on if I have any attachment to them (ie. nostalgia), appearance, and for personality balance. I have one of every personality right now and an extra normal and lazy as I like them the most. I don't really consider species balance like I know some people do and I love having four goats living on my island. While there's a few more I'd love to have on my island, I ultimately decided against them so I could experience all personality types for a while.

I love Chevre and Nan due to childhood memories in Wild World with my sister so they are probably my only "dreamies" if I use that word. Sherb and Dom are my next two favorites based on my experiences with them in NH. A lot of my other villagers I encountered along the way and I decided they needed to stay because I enjoy having them on my island.
