I've seen a TON of "Oh no my game corrupted!" threads around lately, especially on GameFAQs, and I am beginning to get real worried, especially because I have a digital copy. D:

I just want to know how "common" it is to have your data corrupt. I rarely take my SD card out of my DS unless I want to play Pokemon X (which hasn't been in a while), and I always power off the system before taking it out, and I don't touch the power button/SD card when my game is saving. According to the threads, people have been having corruption problems even after taking all of the precautions.

So, has your game ever corrupted? If so, what version (digital or physical) of the game did you have?

Digital since June 9th, 2013 and never had data corruption. I've taken my SD card out to get photos off more than once, never had a problem.

Quite honestly, I'm skeptical of all the people claiming to have had their data corrupted. While it's somewhat possible, it's nearly always their fault and/or they restarted their game on purpose in order to get free items from other people. Just how I feel about it.

I've felt this way a few times. My friend has over 600 hours on it and has had the game since release date and not once has she had a single problem; she even transferred the game data over to another SD card safely!

There's always a small chance it can corrupt randomly, but from all the threads popping up, it seems like it's a bigger chance than normal, which makes me wonder if they are just doing it purposely...

Never happened to me and I feel the same. It happened on this forum too, someone with a corrupted game and suddenly 3 more threads showed up......

I downloaded AC:NL at midnight on June 9th on a Cosmo Black 3DS. On June 10th, I went out & purchased a Blue 3DS XL & a 16GB SD card. Everything transferred over to both without a single problem. Don't be too worried ^^

I have both and I have never had any problems (besides losing the physical one...heh...I need to go find that), but in my opinion it seems as if they're just trying to scam people. I mean, yes, I can understand that it could happen, but when it starts happening twice, a third time, then multiple threads appearing at the same time, it just seems like to big of a coincidence at that point.

I have had several accidents like dropping and the cartridge popping out, pushing on the cartridge and it popping out, turn off the game several times by accident. I always plot set and reset if something goes wrong in the game, that I can't fix. I am grateful that nothing has happened yet.

I dropped my DS before and I literally shrieked cause I thought somehow dropping my DS 3 feet on a carpet floor would somehow manage to open the SD card slot and eject it.

I recently began to plot reset and I get so nervous each time I do it. D:

Also this is irrelevant but I absolutely LOVE your signature!

I've played 350 hours and I got the game a week after release. I've never had an issue with anything, ever, at all, except once the tree glitch happened (where two fruit show up instead of three). I just went inside and came back out, and nothing went wrong.

Just in case, though, I like to back up my data every week or so. I would hate to leave my town behind if anything were to happen!

I think a lot of people are scamming for villagers, bells, and items. It's sad, because people who actually need help don't get it, and the issue is trivialized in that sense.

I've had the physical copy since July last year and never had any corruption problems with it (fingers crossed it stays that way). I'm pretty cautious while saving and playing the game, I've read a lot of corruption stories where the issue was to do with saving (accidentally quitting early while the game was still saving) or the cartridge popping out.

I've been very cautious since I've heard corrupting rumors. I have a physical copy. I never lose power in a dream town or save in the streetpass plaza. I don't press the home menu while playing to reset my game if something goes wrong.

I wish the 3DS had a cartridge slot cover, kind of like how the SD card is protected by a cover... Surprised they haven't done that yet to be honest.

My friend has had her game glitch, where she had the ghost plot. It showed a house on the map but the spot was bare. Also if you opened her map when visiting or if she opened her map the game would error. She had to restart her game because of that.

I was thinking about making this topic yesterday! xD Mine has never corrupted, I own two physical copies myself :)

That's really odd and scary. D: Is there a way to prevent that from happening or did it just randomly happen?

I have both a digital and cartridge/physical copy. My main town (i.e. The game where I achieved all of my dream villagers) is on my cartridge copy though, which unfortunately got corrupted for the first time last week. .

26 voters and I'm the first to have my game corrupt :/ .. It corrupted twice on my digital copy.. But I think it was due to a faulty SD card
