GOOD NEWS: Nintendo said they will restock Amiibo cards!

I also wonder if they will re-design them since the villagers look a lot better now with the added details.
here's to hoping. like they could make an expansive new horizons set with all the cards redesigned, new villagers and npcs. older stuff would be a big collector's item too

I want my series 2 collectors album that isnt over-priced! :c I dont wanna play 50 bucks for a little book.. so excited!
I remember buying it for 10 euros, but that was when it was released. Crazy how just the book where you can neatly put the cards in has shot up almost 5 times its original price.

I got my 1,2, and 4 at around 20-30 dollars.. which is unfair but I wanted it haha. I really hope I can snag the book

Maybe the pandemic is affecting the amiibo card manufacturing as well, which could be why only one region is getting them at the moment. But idk. If the cards are manufactured in China that is. We are currently having global shortage of original Switches due them being manufactured in China which was halted due the pandemic.

I'm so excited! Maybe Lolly, Zucker, etc. will finally drop to a reasonable price now.

And, if you are on Android, you don't even need to buy the NFC tags...

What do you mean by this? I know you can create amiibo using NFC tags and an android, but how on earth would you make an amiibo sans the tags? I'm really curious about that, because it sounds quite promising.

I hop

I hope so too. And I hope that at some point Nintendo would reproduce the books and the cards. Or at least consider it for the West.

I'm not sure about that either but I'm curious. I know the Android has a capability to read and write NFC tags but I never heard of it simulating an NFC data. I want that stuff.

There is an app for Android which lets you use your phone as a replacement controller, and that is used to send the Amiibo file. There are guides on Reddit... I will send you a PM. It is a grey area morally, but if you aren't using this to profit, just to get your dreamies, then it means that eBay sellers aren't holding you hostage.

I'm just gonna quote this bc I really wanna know too

Even if this is news about Japan, perhaps they will also be willing to release them in other regions if they do well on the Japanese market? If so, my poor bank account is going to be hurting, hehehe~

Yeah I assume they’ll come out in other regions eventually, but it will be majorly delayed due to the pandemic.

My reasons for believing this are: Nintendo never stated or even implied the cards were a limited edition. Nintendo has a long history, particularly with amiibos, at disastrously estimating demand (it always seems like they stock so many something becomes worthless or so few they all go to eBay scalpers), and yet they always eventually restock things that they under stocked, provided those things weren’t advertised as limited edition. And in contrast to HHD, this game is a massive monetary success and they have nothing but profits to reap if they do reprint the cards. Plus the rereleases in Japan indicate a general willingness to reissue. My guess is that they only thought they would have a big enough market in Japan when they ordered the first reprint (those came out in February 2020, so months before then), and by the time NOA Nintendo caught on that there was demand here, global supply chains were already in chaos.

but I could be wrong about absolutely everything lmao. Just my observations.

I'm glad! I was interested in getting back into collecting them (as in via random packs!) and was disappointed to find they're out of stock everywhere. :(

Depending on how many they make, Ebay scalpers may still be in business, especially if Raymonds card is hard to find or in limited availability.

Then again, all we need is 1 Raymond card to get a binary dump of the code to start making homemade Raymond amiibos.

Yeah. Exactly. Those lowlives can't charge 50$ for him anymore. All they can do is just sell him for cents once his data is out or offer fancy customized NFC tags for him. Totally not 50$ tho. 🤣
Of course, authentic cards DO fetch a high price so that's a given.

True. The cloned ones will never hold the collector value.

YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS FELLAS. RAYMOND AND NEW VILLAGER AMIIBO SOON!
🦀 🦀 🦀 🦀BYE EBAY SCALPERS🦀 🦀 🦀 🦀

And then the scalpers will use their bots to buy up alllllll the card packs to resell the individual cards online at their inflated prices, just like their currently doing with Switch systems.

Honestly, Nintendo's best bet is to sell individual cards at set prices and limit the number of purchases made (For example no more then 6 cards per week, and then you can only buy one of a specific card) on their online store front to 1. Make finding cards the consumer wants easier and 2. Combating scalpers.

Either way, I hope the Splatoon 2/Zelda villagers come in series 5 alongside the 8 brand new villagers. For the RV Villagers from Welcome Amiibo and the Hello Kitty villagers from Pocket Camp, I'm open to whether or not they appear. I mostly just want Viche back. xD And an easier way to buy all my dream villagers then playing "What's In The Pack?"

That sounds great, thank you! I just recently got an Android with NFC capabilities, so I'm not fully aware of everything it's capable of, yet.

This is only in Japan tho. Not Europe or USA.

I have so many I need to complete my collection. I've traded with a couple of people here. Good stuff.
