I've seen quite a few themed towns, with specific villagers that match the scene. And I've seen quite a few that don't seem to follow any set theme. Do you prefer to stick to an ideal theme for your town? Or do you just go with whatever looks fine?

Honestly, I don't think I could have a town with a specific theme. My villagers are completely random and I'll just plot whatever PVP looks good to me. :p
I recall started out with a type of theme in mind, but I sorta forgot for a while, and let everything become kinda random.

I don't, unless a "natural town" is considered a theme. xD I just pick villagers I like and base my town's design off whatever flower combos I think are pretty. I don't like sticking to a specific colour scheme cause I'd get bored. xD

Kinda... I tend to only build fairytale & natural pwps, but my villagers are random. No design path, hybrid flowers everywhere.

I'm going for 3 themes in my town! I love both the fairy tale and mermaid sets, so those are the first two themes. I'm putting seashells and coral around my town, making mermaid and fairytale castles, and using a lot of fairytale pwps. I'm also farming lots of hybrids (pink, blue, and purple mostly) and saving up lots of pink and blue hydrangea starts to use, and I have a few decorative paths that go with these themes.

The third theme is Bravest Warriors (show by Pendelton Ward, the guy that created Adventure Time. It's on youtube, you should toootally watch it). My town is called Glendale which is in the first episode. In that episode, everyone is trapped in a time loop where infinite versions of the 4 main characters are overpopulating the moon of Glendale. So my other 3 characters are versions of my mayor (all have pink hair and blue eyes, and dress in a lot of pink and blue) :D And on their TPC's I'm putting quotes from the episode like "Repair the time loop!", "Save Glendale!", and "Pour the slime!" xD My mayor's name is Devon c: (my name), and my other three characters are Miii, Mii, and Mi (me). So it's a town full of me :D

I'm having fun with all this lol

I named my town Riften.... because I liked the name (and its like the only one from Skyrim that fit) but then decided to commit to the skyrim theme! if anyone is versed in the game all m villagers are relevant to the game

Vic- a nord, with the hat and all!
Paula- bears are common enemies
Drago- duhhhhh dragons
Sterling- a knight in shining armor, I picture him as like a Blade
Tucker- mammoths are common enemies (even has the fire pit around him like the giants)
Hans- he is my frost troll
Ankha- the Jarl of Riften
Roscoe- shadowmere is BA
Claudia- sabre cats are common enemies
Skye- Wolves are common enemies

I have a whimsical/nature garden theme. It used to be spooky but then I decided to change it all of a sudden. I'm thinking about mixing the two together tho.

sort of? i don't really have an exact theme going on, but i do try to go with specific colours of flowers and paths to make my town prettier.

My town is solely a June/July stormy town. Rainy forests are literally my favourite thing in life XD.
It has dark and white flowers, hydrangea and hibiscus bushes, many trees and natural coloured villagers.

i don't really have an exact or specific theme, but i am making my town a more flowery/pretty type. my paths are a pink shade and i have pink hydrangea bushes growing around my fruit orchard. i'm also planning on making my town hall and train station fairy-tale style when i can upgrade them.

Yeah, sort of. I was planning to make something out of my town. But I easily switch my ideas for another and I can't really sort things out. I haven't even found appropriate tiles and face cut-out boards for all the themes that I had in mind and considering how untalented I am when it comes to designing stuff.

Back then, I picked Archmell as my town's name because when I first laid my hands on this game I was hoping to make my town look like a natural and alpine place with tons of flowers and windmills. I only used this Archmell name for my town again because I ran out of ideas. Right now I'm thinking I should make my town's theme an old-school anime town full of action heroes and gimmicky characters. Unfortunately, I can't find good paths and most of the villagers I had in mind are all jock and cranky types.

Vista is a Zen garden like town, that's suffering because it's winter right now and I don't feel like TTing it to spring. As for villagers, I just get who I comfortable with.

Chocolat, I haven't really start on it yet. Right now I have it on hold.

Kind of, I'm trying to stick with the Zen garden and serenity type of theme but it's just more of a mixture now. I like it, but it's not finished yet and it seems I have things to work on stiiiiilll

My town is a beautiful nature town. I have fairy tale town hall renovation (gonna get the train station once I get 100 visitors) and pink paths. I have all types of flowers though, not just pink and white. And I have the metal bench and normal streetlamps so it's kind of a mix between nature and beautiful fairy tale with cats.

My town is Great Gatsby themed, hence the name WestEgg and all the characters. I guess the actual 'theme' is fancy, but that's more of just Gatsby's house.

Themed towns are my favorite, and I love seeing what other people come up with for theirs!

My main/personal town of Ruddyoak is loosely Lord of the Rings themed--the town and mayor, Athelwyn, are named after characters in an old LOTR computer game. The other human residents are Lobelia Sackville-Baggins and Barliman Butterbur, who runs the Prancing Pony. Their homes are themed, while mine is not...though I do have a fancy tribute to Tolkien in my basement library!

My second town, Goblin, is entirely themed after the movie Labyrinth. I feel like I talk about that one on TBT too much, maybe, but I love it! The other residents are Sarah, Toby, Jareth, and Hoggle. Ludo (in standee form) lives at the back of the labyrinth. Right now I'm working on adding a memorial to David Bowie and a few more nice things so can update the dream address.

My third town is entirely themed also, and I hope to finish and "unveil" it soon. For that town, even the villagers fit the theme.

I used to have a cycling town themed after the TV show Daria. I wound up deleting it so I could make the third town. I miss it now, though--I had Daria, Jane, and Quinn living there, and their bedrooms were spot on. I even had a Tommy Sherman memorial tree. Haha.

Idk, I just wanted my town to look pretty woodsy and soothing, kind of like a lost little corner of a forest where everyone lives simple :). I guess I ended up with sort of an eastern theme too, because I have the zen town hall, zen house, zen streetlights, etc. but I didn't plan for it to have any sort of theme.

My town name is kind of lame, but it's based on a town where I live that is right in the woods and has lots of cool old houses and cabins and lots of hiking trails. So I guess that's ultimately the feel I was going for.
