I know turnips are the best way to make money in this game, but I've never felt the need to buy them. It stresses me out too much thinking about having to sell them at the right place & time to make a profit (not to mention the storage problem). I'm relying mostly on fruit trees, bugs & fish, and hot items for bells right now. Whenever I see an expensive bug flying around, it still makes me really excited to take out my net and catch it because I know the bells will be worth it. Still slowly paying back my last home loan, but I'm having a really fun time playing this game at a slower pace even though I'm broke lol.
Anybody else couldn't care less about making millions of bells off turnips?
I started to ignore. Constantly refreshing the stalk market on reddit just to be the first 100 posts and hope to get in someone's island to sell is just too..stressful. It's not making me enjoy the game. I rather get rich another way (duping tbh lol)
Yes, because Flick and CJ are avoiding my island and I'm saving all my expensive catches for them... so a lot of my island looting has dried up at the moment.
That 2 million loan is stressing me out and I've had my basement for a month. I would love to go ahead and get it out of the way so I can spend my money on better things...
I ignored them for the first time today, and I'll probably continue to ignore them for awhile. I've spent enough time on the stalk market, and I should have enough bells to last me awhile.
i did play the stalk a couple weeks earlier in the game, but i agree, the storage problem with turnips is a hassle, and i would get so stressed about finding a good price on someone's town and jUMPING oN THE QUEUE so i wouldn't have to wait like 2 hours to go over and sell haha. i made a lot of money off of turnips and it made the game less fun for me, maybe, because like you, i really like the excitement and grind of make bells using the natural island resources. i ended up giving away most of my bells lmao and i like the slow grind of chipping away at my loans and building projects!
you're definitely not the only person who ignores daisy mae/turnips (there's been such an influx these days of threads like "am i the only one who..." and "does anyone else also..." which has been a lil tiresome to me- there are so many people playing this game, you're definitely never the only person who does (or doesn't do) some certain thing or dislikes some certain character. really hope this doesn't sound salty or directed specifically towards you, OP!!! i know your intent probably wasn't to make yourself sound unique, but instead to see how other people play! i just had to say it lol), and i'm glad you're comfortable and having fun at the pace you're setting for yourself!
Haven't bought turnips in 2 weeks and honestly I don't really miss it at all. I don't spend that many bells on a regular basis that I need millions more bells. I have nowhere to store the turnips anyway and I don't want to litter them all over my island.
I just realized I forgot to buy turnips from her today...
Tbh yeah, I don't rely on them too much because I have the worst luck imo and so far none of my turnips prices have ever exceded 200+ bells ever. Most of the time the prices are really garbage.
I never bought them in NL so I thought I would give it a ago this time around but I've never had prices above 160 and cbf going to someone else's island to sell them so I'm just going to keep getting them until I get the all the nook miles for selling turnips and then stop
i don’t because i time travel lol. a friend had a spike and i tt’d to buy them and sell right away. i know there’s a nook mile achievement for selling so i’ll have to eventually pay attention to stalks but it won’t be for a long while i don’t think.
Acnh was the first time I've tried the stalk market. I didn't even bother trying in acnl. My experiences so far have been very stressful trying to sell turnips due to the high levels of traffic at other people's islands where the sale prices are high. I've tried a few times and I have since then stopped. I only needed the bells for completing my loans and certain furniture. I'm happy where I'm at bell wise --I just need to figure out my island layout as it's constantly changing with moving villagers.
You only make millions of bells off of turnips if you sell them on other islands. I've been buying turnips every week except the first 1 or 2 because I couldn't afford any. I've made profit on my own island every single week except 1 (was a constantly decreasing week - I think you're always guaranteed some amount of losses then) by using the turnip calculators and the turnip datamine info. It hasn't been ginormous profits - 187 is the highest I've ever had so far - but it's kinda fun to track the prices. The calculators that use the datamine info are super accurate for helping you figure out when your week's high, and therefore the best time to sell, is.
I don't think it's stressful if you don't have to deal with high traffic at others' islands or searching for high prices at others' islands or you don't TT. TTing is only potentially stressful if you forget to not go backwards or forget to not go past Saturday on a week you bought turnips.
Yeah. I did turnips for three or four weeks in a row after not having done them in previous games like EVER, and then I decided I had made enough money off of that. I prefer trading items anyway, and I'll be totally honest here: I'm passed out when Joan/Daisy Mae come through.
In NL I pretty much ignored the turnip game, and got my bells via beetle hunting and trading.
But this time around I am taking the turnip game seriously! It's fun and makes the game seem more new to me. And it's nice always having bells in the bank this time around lol
