I've never done it but sometimes we see homeless people with really creative signs- one time there was one that said "404 Sign not found" something like that, and we would usually give them money.

So guys, if you're ever homeless-

1. make a great sign
2. sit on a busy street

Definitely not. At most I'll buy them something to eat but not if they're entitled or demanding. I was walking home with a friend and was approached by a lady who I had seen begging in a different part of town before. She told a sob story about being robbed and asked if she could have a couple of bucks for some food and a ticket home. I told her no, but was willing to buy her a meal and her ticket. I asked where she lives, she said <other side of town>. This entire time my buddy kept walking, didn't even look at her. Said she could turn around now and I wouldn't say anything, but she didn't relent. Called to my buddy to turn right, we're going to the light rail a few blocks down. Got about 15 feet and she finally walked away.

You can buy a 100ml bottle of 40% vodka for .70 cents. Go anywhere the homeless hang out and you'll see those little liquor bottles discarded everywhere. You can never be sure what they will actually spend your money on, it's better not giving them any. Even worse when they are smoking a cigarette or sipping a beer when they solicit you. Or hang outside your favorite hole in the wall restaurant around dinnertime.

If we're talking aside from charity then no. Sorry, it's just impossible to tell which ones will actually use it to help themselves or use it for drugs since there are plenty of liars out there begging for money. A guy came up to me on campus once and caught me off guard asking for money because his "daughter's" car ran out of gas. Well, I was stupid and gave him some. Sure enough, days later I see him on campus in a different spot pestering students for money again using the same bull**** excuse. **** that guy for lying and asking college students on a college campus who are just trying to pay off their loans as is. I get really intimidated when I see them holding signs by traffic lights and you're forced to stare at them like that's not cool. Some can be aggressive and come up to your car pushing their sign in your face. I see the same people every day begging for money and they must be making some if they keep coming back. Don't encourage them to do that. I know it's not easy to grab a job right away, but they could seriously be using those signs to hand out resumes and someone might help them.

I don't see any homeless people where I live, but if I ever did I would probably throw them something, even if it was just a penny. I'd feel guilty about it later if I didn't.

Mhmm I want to when I grow older but not now since I'm kinda iffy about people and people are crazy/impredicatble so ima hold off until I'm old enough to defend myself against a 20+ man.

I'd rather give to charity then homeless people tbh. But if I really find a homeless person who is in a bad situation..I will give at least 10.

as a student, i'm usually pretty skint but sometimes i'll give money if they're doing something cool like playing guitar and singing. also the other day i gave a man a few quid because he had a pet ferret which i thought was really cool :')

Yeah if I have any change. There's this Chinese restraunt near my house and there's also a homeless man who sits out there. I sometimes give him money to get something to eat and he does. So that makes me know my money is going to good use.

Other times I give money to homeless people they just put it in their pocket and continue begging. Other times they're junkies and use the money they earn to score so more drugs. But not everyone is the same and I don't put them in a category base off what happened the last time. I'm a sucker for sad stuff.

Sometimes I'll give a little bit of change. If I don't have any on me, then no.

Not usually, around here I'm scared to just take out my wallet in public, anyone can just snatch it out of my hands.

no;;;; I feel bad but there's a really big chance that they're, well, not actually homeless people. My economics teacher showed us a documentary thing about it, it was pretty interesting. rip.

One time, I went to Chicago for Christkindlmarkt. I was so afraid of the possibility of making eye contact with a homeless person or a homeless person poser...... OTL

Yeah I give them change if I have it. Honestly I'm on a pretty good career path and whether or not they're lying about who they are and what they want the money for I'd bet that I'm a lot more fortunate than anyone who would lower themselves to begging.

sometimes, if i have a bit of loose change. i don't give them dollar bills though, i can't trust them..

there's a lot of homeless people where i live, mostly the streets have 1 homeless person

i try not to make eye contact with them because they make me feel bad.. i usually just look at the radio in my truck when they pass by our vehicle

Don't ever give money to homeless people. They normally spend it unwisely, and on drugs more often than you'd think. Every time a homeless person approaches my parents asking for money for food, they offer to drive them to the nearest food place and get them lunch. A lot of them refuse, which shows that food isn't really what they're looking for. However, there was this one nice homeless guy we had met a few times. We've bought him quite a few meals, a sleeping bag, and a Bible. He seems to be doing alright, we haven't seen him in a while~

no I don't. the people that beg for money around here are not really homeless... they're usually druggies. a lot of them live in half way houses paid for the government then they hussle & beg for money to score drugs. I've actually seen these "homeless" people get dropped off by their friends at the freeway entrances. it's funny because whenever I see a real homeless person around, they're never begging for money

Almost always.
When you don't have much, there's a lot to go around!

I live in Utah in a college town where 99% of the kids are Mormon.
Most of the beggars are poor college kids lol!
Generally when I'm in Salt Lake City, I'll make sure they don't like like druggies?
But also, it's not my place to judge. It's their body and withdrawal sucks.
