Do you feel bad about having popular villagers?

I reckon these villagers are so popular because they appeal to the majority of players, and chances are... you are in that majority.
Half my country owns an iPhone. Did that make me feel bad about having one? No, because I liked iOS and the design (especially of the iphone 6 series). Now I just can't afford the bloody thing. xD

I love this comment so much. We all love something popular one way or another. And we shouldn’t feel bad about it.

I don’t feel bad about it! If someone is hating on you for having an island full of all the “popular” villagers, who cares? Those villagers are popular for a reason; they’re adorable or cool, so it shouldn’t matter!

How about this: Your favorite villager is one of the less popular ones, let’s say Colton. He is on your island because you love him, he is your absolute favorite villager ever! All of a sudden, Colton became a very popular villager, rising to the ranks of Judy and Raymond. Now there are tons of people who feel the same way! Are you going to kick out Colton because he is popular? Because you don’t want to be “basic” by having this popular villager? Now think of how many people like Raymond, not because of his popularity, but because they love his design, his personality. How can you say it is wrong to have popular villagers, when many people with those villagers love them as much as you love Colton, Tank, or Barold?

But what I’m trying to say is that you shouldn’t judge people on their villager preferences, because they love their “pretty” villagers as much as you love your “boring” ones.

I myself have six villagers who are slightly more popular than some other ones. Lolly, Cookie, Flora, Sherb, Molly, and Sylvana! I didn’t choose them because of their popularity. I chose them because they are freaking adorable villagers. I’m also looking for Goldie and Bones. Once more, I’m not going off of popularity! If I found Judy, I wouldn’t keep her. I couldn’t care less about how many people liked her. It’s my island! I personally don’t find her appealing, and therefore, I would not take her.

It seems that some people think that an island full of popular villagers would be boring, but I don’t really see how? If you love the villagers, that’s the only thing that matters really. Screw people who hate it lol. Regardless of whether the villager you want is considered cute or ugly, just pick whoever makes you happy, that’s the point of this game

the only thing that matters is what you personally feel about the villagers! if you love em, then you love em. you shouldn't feel bad about having them on your island just because they're popular among the community it's your game anyway and you'll be the one always encountering them in your island hahah

that's my mindset, that's why i don't feel bad about loving/having genji and zucker in my island! (didnt even know genji was popular bc he wasn't that popular back in new leaf era hahah)

I don't really care about popularity. There are lots of "mid to low tier" villagers that I like, with Penelope being the most recent example. I adore this little mouse and I wouldn't trade her for Audie or whoever is more popular. All of my villagers were found on random islands (since I only seem to get campers I don't like lol) and if I take a popular villager in, it's either because I like them/I'm curious or because I don't mind having them and already know I'll make someone happy when I let them go.

I've just been going with whoever i like the most and whoever i have a connection with and those happen to be somwhat popular villagers. I don't have coco currently but diana, lopez and coco started in my new leaf town and so i have a special connection with them. I got pashmina and tangy later on and fell in love with them too!
I like things that are cute and like 90% of the popular villagers are super cute. I dont feel super ashamed in liking the popular villagers because im not getting them just because theyre popular

I don't feel bad about having popular villagers nor that I necessarily like them because they are popular. The only time I feel bad is having the same villager as a close friend or family member who I visit often. My mum had Raymond from the start and I really wanted him. I felt kinda bad having him join my island because i didn't want it to take the shine of hers. But my Raymond'o' is a distant identical twin....

I feel bad only sometimes...but I supposed it's more guilty. I see posts all the time where people have blown through like 400+ NMT trying to get a villager I picked up on a lark on a mystery island on like my 20th ticket. I feel bad that they can't find them, but I suppose that shouldn't ruin it for me either. That's for sure something to think about and work on!

Not really, I just like the villagers that I like. No reason to feel bad about anything at all. Some of my villagers that I live aren’t even that popular. It matter what YOU like for villagers, not what other people consider popular.

I don't feel guilty at all because they found me ^^ I have a mixture of both popular and not popular villagers. I never really care about those tiers or what other people think about having certain villagers. I am happy living with Dom, Norma, Bluebear, Al, O'hare, Zucker, Pompom, Raymond, Wolfgang and Judy.

Nah, I don't feel guilty about having a few popular ones! I didn't have a solid line-up or dreamies coming into New Horizons (okay maybe except for hamlet and Zucker lol), and like the post above me, the rest of villagers found me. I love them all to death! I wish I could experience other villagers but I've gotten attached to all of them that I can't let them go.

Why would I feel bad? I like some of them and not because they are popular. I invite them by looks and type and want at least 1 of every type. And yes I choose the one I like most. No one should be affected by how much other people like or hate a villager...just choose who you want.
