I just want to start by saying I dont feel like there are any right or wrong ways to play a game you have spent money on, you should be able to play however you see fit,

That said I've always been curious how people see Time Travelling? For me personally it is the only thing I see as "cheating" and I have never, nor ever would. My reasoning for this is that I believe AC is a game created for the long haul, its not a game to "complete" in a week and then say now what, It's a game to be played daily in small chunks over multiple years, and I just wouldnt get excited about the Christmas event or Halloween etc If I could just reset my clock and be straight there,

On my first playthrough I was even funny about being gifted Golden Tools because I didnt see them as being "earnt" and only had Gold Tools for the first time when I'd earnt the DIYs for them. This time around however I'm a bit more relaxed about it, I have earnt them DIYs previously so when I was gifted them at the start of this playthrough I gladly took them,

I'm curious to hear other peoples opinions on Time Travelling and wether there are any "Rules" you have imposed on yourself to keep the game fresh and enjoyable,

Thanks for reading :)

I never have. One of my favourite aspects of the game, ever since Wild World, is the fact that it runs in real time. I love that the season and time of day matches whatever is happening in the real world. So time travelling just ruins that charm for me.

Yes, all the time. I have other responsibilities so I don’t always have time to play. Time traveling helps me enjoy the game more. Everyone plays how they want and that’s the fun part.

I did it to get all of K.K.'s songs faster. At just over 90 correction: 100+ songs with only one gained per week, I didn't want to spend a year and a half collecting them

I don't timetravel to cheat.... I timetravel BACK in time because I never have time to finish events... I am still in October because I am a mother and I like to play every day in the game, but I don't have time to play enough in real life. I might get one hour now and then, so I keep the same day until I'm finished.

I time travel when I want to play the game for a bit longer. Mostly I'll time travel forward once I've gotten all of my DIY recipes for the day, once I've checked all shops, done my mystery island, and once I've spoken with all of my villagers. Sometimes I'll play through the entire day before TTing forward, it just depends on how long I want to play that day. However, I have and will always disagree with the insinuation that it's "cheating". It is a feature of the game that has been available to everyone since always and to say something is cheating is to say that someone's doing it to gain an advantage over others. Animal Crossing is the type of game where no one really has an "advantage" over anyone else. Someone might get furniture earlier than another person (though this wasn't possible during the first year if I remember correctly) but there's no other advantage that they'd receive, especially not anymore. I think saying that someone is "cheating" in a game adds a bit of a morality issue to it as well and it's just really unnecessary for a game like this.

i don't generally, but in new leaf i did have my clock set 2 hours behind because i never had time to play except way after the shops were closed.

i don't think its cheating but i do think that it could reduce the gameplay to just doing daily tasks and then quitting, which is not what i want out of an animal crossing game

You know you can buy one every day from the pc?

Yes, but there's no guarantee of a new one. After a while it tends to just repeat the same group of them to the point where getting them from K.K. without time traveling would be faster haha

In this economy? Do you know how much plutonium costs?

This was me back in 2020 during the full swing of the pandemic. I worked so many hours and days that year and the following one was pretty much a blur.

I have yet to complete that Nook mile achievement. Sitting through 50? different K.K. events. I'll get to it one day, but my play dates are so sporadic sometimes I outright miss tons of weekends. But yea the rng in this game can be atrocious at times.

Games that expect you to play 1 hour every single day just aren't for me. I have no interest in cheating or profiting off of it, but for example I would reset my island in, like, December 2022 and just start my save file at March 2020 and play 3-6 hours every single day for months with like taking 30 minutes to do my daily things and move on. Maybe it's because I'm a working adult now and not a kids that's bored.

I did play day-to-day when the game first released, but that was a much more boring experience to me than when I restarted on my current island. I think New Horizons is just so lackluster on a day-to-day basis, New Leaf is much better and Wild World was too.

Right now I'm again playing for like 30 minutes a day, but I'm building my island one bridge/incline/movement at a time. It's fine, but overall the game does bore me. New Leaf really did it right with pacing shop upgrades. I don't want or need the series to change, but I just prefer playing it with my own rules.

I love time traveling and don't care if it's cheating. I lost my original save file when I transferred the game to Switch 2 and I've been time traveling like mad to rebuild. Now I'm thinking of going back in time to get the zodiac figures and New Years arches from previous years.

As a child with city folk I used to time travel back if I missed an event like Halloween or something, then go back to the present day. I don’t time travel at all anymore. I dont know what happens if you do and it feels like breaking the rules 😂 I just play naturally. Even if that means I’ve never got to properly experience turkey day because November is such a busy month!!!

I time traveled from the beginning of my ACNH adventure. I couldn't get the game the day it was released. I went the next day on Saturday. When I played the game, I set the clock to March 20 so it could give the appearance that I started the game on the day the game came out.

Since then, I have time travelled every now and then. However, I only go forward one day at a time and then go back to present day. No extreme travelling like going from today to March 2026 for example.

I used to time travel, but now I usually only time travel to move a villager in quicker.

The majority of the time, no, I don't. Every now and then to move a building while I am currently able to do so, but I usually don't see a need to change the clock. I might at one point adjust things so that I can catch the late night bugs or fish, because I go to bed soon after my kids do, but other than that. I'm fine.

I used to time travel like crazy.. It really depends on how often I'm playing the game and if I need to do a lot of stuff! I don't really play very often so I don't time travel so much anymore.

No. I used to a LOT on my first island, but then I completely avoided it on my second. I’ve had maybe like 6-7 islands since and I usually avoid it, although I used it on a few of those 6-7. I don’t do it on my current one
