Do you feel bad about having popular villagers?

Not really, I tend to like villagers that I bond with or ones I like the designs of.
It doesn't really matter to me if they are popular or not if I like them!

I got to the point where I'd see people post photos of their villagers at Harv's & at least 3-4 of their villagers would also be on my island. I took a good long look at my crew and I knew how it happened--I was moving out my least favorite islanders and grabbing the first decent options to come along and the natural result was that I had a hodgepodge of villagers who weren't all top-tier but were mostly fairly popular.

I deliberately decided to shake up my island. I started rotating out villagers who were popular but didn't fit my vibe, and hunting for villagers who would fill out my personality spread/gender split/species variety & trying to consider each option with fresh eyes. I wanted something that would feel more mine.

My village has still got a lot of the popular choices. Maybe too many? My current crew is: Klaus, Diana, Audie, Julian, Marshal, Erik, Genji, Roscoe, Agnes, Lolly. I suspect that Erik and Lolly will go and I'll try to replace them with some of the less obvious choices; I think I'll switch Lolly for Alice as soon as I get her photo. As for the lazy... I don't know. Deli? Rex? Tucker?

Nah, they're popular for a reason and my taste isn't that unusual. Popular and unpopular villagers deserve to be treated the same; normal.

I think out of my villagers, only Lucky and Cherry are somewhat popular and I don't really care. I do sometimes find it boring to see the same lists of villagers over and over again, but if those were the villagers I really liked, I'd probably have them, too.

I do feel bad daily having Raymond for being to overhyped, he's asked to leave all the time also, i know others would kill for him but i really don't have any villagers i need in return. So it's neutral but honestly there no different from underrated villagers either.

The only reason i keep them is that i have all the new villagers in my main town so i can get used to them.

A lot of my villagers are popular... I don't feel bad about it at all. I started playing Animal Crossing with Happy Home Designer, so I met all the villagers before I knew much about the game or what people liked or not since I didn't follow any AC sites or media. My favorites are my favorites simply because I find them cute or interesting. It wasn't until I traded amiibos that I got a feel for what's most popular, but that didn't change my feelings over the villagers I already liked.

I guess my lineup is pretty boring, but I don't care. I have Fauna, Coco, Flurry, Twiggy, Flora, Boots, Marshal, Mint, Marina and Zucker.
I've been thinking of switching out villagers with the seasons, so come fall I'm looking at Sally or Cally, Deirdre, Lucky, Vesta, Carmen or Bunnie, and maybe Kiki... new blood keeps things interesting. Fauna is the only one that's never leaving.

I don’t give a single solitary crap what any one else thinks about my villagers. Not one. I’ve chosen my current townies because they’re my favorites and they make me happy.

Anybody who takes issue with what digital animals other people choose to populate their digital island with needs something better to do with their time.

There are some really great less popular villagers out there that don’t get noticed as much because the popular villagers are in the front of everything. I think people should look into them more because you may end up finding a villager that you can’t live without. I love going on this forum and reading about people’s favorite villagers and looking at their photos. When I go Island hopping and see them all, it makes me happy. With all that being said though, it doesn’t matter who your villagers are, it doesn’t define you as a person. You like who you like and that’s pretty much that. If it makes you happy to see them in your game, then what right do other people have in making you feel like that is wrong.

no because if the villager fits in with my theme then I don't feel basic ig, but imo id never want an island with all the top villagers

Not really, as long as I get them because I actually like them. In NL all my villagers were extremely popular but I loved them so why would I feel bad about it? Here I have Raymond and I guess Pietro and Zucker are a little popular too. I'm considering getting Judy and Coco as well because I really like them, not because they're popular.

I don’t pay attention to popularity, so no. Even if a villager I like is popular, that is never the reason I like them. I come to like villagers by bonding with them and I like them for their designs. What I do feel bad about is using amiibo cards for some of my favorite villagers. I admit it took away both some of the fun as well as frustration of trying to find my favorites, meeting new villagers and getting the villager I don’t want to move.

Not at all, some villagers are popular for a reason! But it's all subjective whichever villagers you have, whether you have an island full of popular villagers or unpopular, it really doesn't matter as long as you are happy that they are living on your island. One choice isn't any better than the other. They are all equal~

No. I pick villagers because I like them, not because they're popular. And even if a lot of the villagers I prefer are more popular, like many people have said already, they're obviously popular for a reason. If you have an island full of popular villagers, cool! If you have an island full of villagers no one ever talks about, that's also cool! As long as you like your villagers, you shouldn't worry about popularity.

It doesn't bother me at all. I don't care if a villager is popular or not. I just get them because I like them. When I got Raymond on a mystery island, I didn't know that much about him. I just thought that this cute cat with glasses
should live on my island. I never pay any attention to popularity polls at all, so I didn't find out about Raymond's popularity until I saw a bunch of youtubers trying to get him. I still am unsure about how popular my other villagers are now. I just know that I like them. Most of my villager I have are on my island because I had them in another game and liked them.

Personal experience with those villagers all the way. So no, I don’t feel bad if I have them on my island. If someone thinks I have a villager just because they’re popular, they’re so wrong.
