Controversial food opinions?

They weren't really discontinued. The company that made them was just going bankrupt. So another company bought the rights to start making/distributing them again. Most people don't really eat them even before they were put on hold briefly. I never tried them until afterwards, but most people who have tried the ones from before they made the switch said the flavor or something changed. Probably the company that bought them changed the recipe to cut corners.
I remember this one Super Bowl commercial from 2012 that was advertising the Chevy Silverado. There were these guys standing around a post-apocalyptic city (remember that craze?) eating the last remaining Twinkies while driving around in their truck. It’s funny in context considering this was exactly around the time the original Hostess went bankrupt.

I haven’t noticed any taste differences from what they were originally compared to now.

That's fascinating. I actually didn't know that they changed hands after the previous company went bankrupt. Thank you for enlightening me more on that, I appreciate it! 😀
Ahaha yw! I work in a warehouse so I kind of hear all about useless information like that 😅

I wouldn't know as I never tried them before and only got interested after the whole discontinuation thing. I've tried a deep fried twinkie to. People rave about that all the time, but it was just ok? I didn't really think it was anything amazing. Not a bad dessert/snack, but nothing I'd be running somewhere to try. The hot twinkie cream inside scolded the roof of my mouth so that might be the reason to lol!

I like pecan pie to. But I hate how hot the syrup can get because sometimes it burns or if it runs down my cheek it feels like melted metal. I'm being dramatic, but it hurts 😅

I don’t mind pecan pie but I don’t like how sticky its center can get.

  • Pineapple on pizza is beautiful
  • Nestlé chocolate sucks ngl
  • Coke is mid. Better for cleaning coins than consuming
  • Cool flavour tortilla chips are the best
  • Water is the best drink
  • But I am also extremely juvenile and drink glasses of milk often enough
really like raw flour.
Realest statement in this thread ngl. Shame it's dangerous. Also a shame I don't care

I like drinking plain milk. I usually don't because my family uses milk a lot for coffee and cereal, so I'd rather use milk for those.

I don't like a lot of popular fruits such as watermelon, honeydew, bananas, blueberries, etc. I can't stand their textures.

I don't like Coke and Pepsi either, but Dr. Pepper is good. I prefer sweet or citrus flavors for soda.

I used to like Reese's chocolate as a kid, but I think it tastes gross now.

Dark chocolate is the best kind of chocolate. I love the bitterness!

Brussel sprouts, turnips, and spinach is good. I mention this because I don't know anyone who likes these vegetables.

I don't like bananas either! Not just because of the texture, but also because after I eat it, my throat feels weird. Like, a bit dry and stuff. My mom says it's normal but still...

I’ll eat turnips if they are in a dish. I know there’s a way that the Chinese cook it but I don’t know how it’s done. I do like spinach and sometimes buy it to make a salad with it. Interestingly enough, I used to be allergic to spinach as a kid and never ate it as a result but since I outgrew that particular allergy, I don’t mind eating it as long as it’s either prepared the Chinese way of sautéing it with some oil and a little bit of garlic or mixed with something else. I also didn’t have any problems eating broccoli as a kid because my grandma would cook the vegetable often and in the Chinese way so it was always flavorful.

I don’t like baked beans or beans in general unless they are in a soup or in chili. The only beans that I don’t have a problem with are Lima, kidney, and those white beans used in white chili.

Coke and Pepsi taste exactly the same to me and I can’t tell the difference between the two unless it’s Cherry flavored. Then I can tell a slight difference between them since the Cherry Coke seems to taste less crisp than the Wild Cherry Pepsi.

The Beyond Burgers don’t taste very good and are really bland unless you ironically add non vegan cheese and bacon on top of them.

I don’t eat bananas because I think I’m allergic to them. Every single time I eat one, my mouth burns and itches for hours and I can’t relieve myself from the pain no matter how hard I try. It’s really unpleasant and so I avoid all things with bananas unless it’s banana bread or muffins which don’t make my mouth itch.

apparently sweetcorn on pizza is weird?? i loveeee it

i'm not a fan of milk on cereal... WHICH I KNOW IS WEIRD but hear me out - i hate the soggy mush texture.. like wet bread 🤮 if i'm ever eating it, it's in a lil mug which i can pick and snack at like crisps or nuts

Some food/flavor combinations should not be a thing imo but we humans sure come up with the wackiest things.

Chocolate and fruit together just sucks. Some examples that immediately come to mind are chocolate-covered strawberries and raisins.

Cream + soda. I'm still mad that I didn't realize that one Pepsi I bought was cream flavor. Yuck.

Pineapple on pizza. Olives on pizza. Tiny fish on pizza. Just no. If there's any fruit I can tolerate on pizza, it's tomato and tomato only. Margherita pizza is pretty good. Definitely not a bad option if I'm ever in the mood for something different.

Yogurt is so much better without the fruit chunks and specks in it. It's probably why I'm still fond of Trix yogurt to this day. It's nice and creamy and smooth. Yoplait is my other go-to brand, just as long as it's the creamy kind.

I prefer regular ham over turkey ham, and ketchup on scrambled eggs is delicious.

I think milk chocolate is better than dark chocolate. White chocolate is fine occasional.

And lastly, I can't stand onions and pickles on burgers or anything else. And yet I find Dill Pickles flavored Pringles to be really good, and I was crazy about onion ring chips as a kid.

I like olives but don't really like it when they're really briny / salty.

Here's a couple more I have:

Just like yogurt, I think ice cream is better without chunks and specks. Creamy and smooth is always the way to go. Mainly, I feel this way because I have sensitive mouth feel. The moment I feel anything foreign or weird, I spit it out. Of course, in public, I use a napkin.

Pasta in white sauce beats pasta in red sauce imo

If the shrimp is jumbo and with their heads intact, I won't eat it. If the shrimp is jumbo and headless, I still won't eat it. Shrimp is nicer when they are small AND headless.

Crunchy and soft chocolate chip cookies are both good. I have no preference.

I like ice cream cake only if it's cookies and cream. Birthday cake has a weird flavor imo I don't like that creamy stuff between layers and I don't really like excessive icing/fondant. I would gladly have plain old pound cake over birthday cake.

Vanilla soft serve cones are better without the rainbow sprinkles. Again, it's because of mouth feel.

Homemade soup sucks. It's way too busy with different ingredients for me to really enjoy it. I prefer plain chicken Top Ramen with little salami slices and garlic, with hot sauce.

Speaking of hot sauce, Mac and Cheese tastes great with spicy buffalo sauce.

Chicken sandwiches with cheese slices taste weird to me, but mayo + ketchup ham and cheese sandwiches are really good.

Mustard.... I never use mustard on anything. That stuff is horrible imo

Rice is better plain. I prefer white rice as is rather than mixing it with veggies, etc.

Boneless chicken > bone-in chicken

Beef tacos, empanadas, etc. > chicken or pork

Pulp is only okay in orange juice, but even then I still have a hard time tolerating it, unless it's light pulp.

  • I don’t like too much onions, just a small amount is fine
  • Sausages or links feel gross most of the time
  • Plain coffee with no sugar and milk is good
  • White chocolate is good
All i can think of.

I think making a deli meat sando and having a pickle on the side and dabbing said pickle on sandwich on the bread to give the whole sandwich a pickle flavor is next level tech and it elevates the sandwich. In this essay I wi-

and all lemon desserts should burn 🤮

I kinda like eating peanut butter by itself as a snack! Just a tablespoon once in a while if I'm feeling it.

I really like corn flakes? I’m pretty sure the consensus is that they’re bad, but I’ve always liked the taste. They’re plain, but not in a bad way. I actually almost prefer them to Frosted Flakes. If I had them more often, I would probably not like them, but as it stands, I think they’re good.

I don’t mind cornflakes if they have some sugar on them or used as an ingredient for a dish like fried chicken. I just don’t eat them because I don’t really like cold cereal all that much and haven’t had a bowl of the stuff since 2011. I prefer eggs and toast for breakfast.
