Controversial food opinions?

Baked beans is gross
Salad tastes better without dressing (even though nowadays I don't mind it).
Baked Potatoes are the best.
Ketchup in Grits is good (this is probably just a Southern USA thing, But I do live there. lol).

pudding is gross (i dont like the texture)
I know alot of people like pudding however.
I can slightly tolerate butterscotch pudding. I rather just not eat it though.
Sweet potatoes are also gross for the same reason.
I do like sweet potato chips.

As a kid, I always thought papaya smelled and tasted like puke.
I don’t like pineapple on pizza. I don’t want sweet **** on my pizza
Honeydew is delicious
Strawberries suuuuck, why do they look delicious but always taste bad.
Blueberries are bad too, taste like mushy nothing
Mexican candy is better than American candy 🤷🏻‍♀️
Spicy and sweet is the perfect combination
Ice cream cake is better than regular cake
Green and red peppers taste toxic
Dr. Pepper is good and doesn’t taste like barbecue water
Matcha doesn’t taste like grass to me

Ketchup is a child’s condiment and shouldn’t be consumed past age 7.

I believe peanut butter is a savory component and ingredient and should not be tied together with a sweet component.

Trail mix is dumb and is just M&Ms with obstacles.

Artichokes scare me. I can’t eat anything with hearts in the title and also they’re just sad try hard cactuses. Why would you want that?

I have a strong aversion to vinegar, and most dressings/sauces/condiments have vinegar, so I have to eat a lot of foods dry. E.g. no dressing on my salad, no sauce on my burrito, no ketchup or mustard on my burger and fries, etc. Waiters are usually pretty surprised by that lol.

Cheetos are one of my favorite snacks in general, but I also love them when they're stale; it gives them a unique texture that I really like!

I don't really know what controversial food opinions I have. The only stuff that comes to mind is:

- I'm quite fond of the taste of mustard whereas some people really dislike it.

- I like fishy-tasting seafood whereas that can be a negative to some people.

- I really love the taste of milk. I know a lot of people are lactose intolerant and some people also just can't stand the taste of milk, but I think it tastes great.

- I don't eat cereal much anymore, but I tend to prefer it dry, without milk. Reason being, I don't like the sogginess the cereal takes on. That's not to say that I never have it with milk, sometimes I do. But just in terms of preference, I like dry better.

- I can't stand the taste of avocado. I'll eat a good guacamole since the other ingredients change the flavor, but the fruit itself is gross.

- Not a fan of onions.

If I think of anything else, I'll make another post.

  • I love white chocolates because they're the most underrated type of chocolate.
  • Twinkies aren't that good tasting and worth the hype. I don't truly understand the hype behind Twinkies and even after tasting one, I still don't get it.
I wouldn't necessarily say Twinkies have hype. They're a long-lived treat, debuting back in 1930, so they have a lot of name recognition and a reputation built up from generations of people growing up with them available. Grandparents eating them and introducing them to their kids who then become parents and introduce Twinkies to their own kids. There are certainly better treats out there, even among Hostess's other products, but people tend to gravitate to what they're familiar with. If they debuted now, I don't think anyone would care all that much about them.

Hm.... I'm not sure if any of these fall under controversial. I think it's probably just weird to other people.

I'm not very picky but some foods I don't prefer: avacados and mushrooms.
I refrigerate ketchup.
I eat fruit rinds sometimes. (Before you ask, not bananas. Lemons, limes, watermelon , kiwi, mangoes.. that kind of stuff. I can eat orange rinds but I don't prefer it.)
I really like raw flour.
I tend to shove food in my mouth in one go.
No shame or judgment about it, but just a heads-up that consuming raw flour can lead to illness due to bacteria such as bacillus cereus, e-coli, and salmonella.

I don't like spaghetti. I just can't deal with the texture.
I also don't like spaghetti. Spaghetti is just kind of bleh compared to other types of pasta dishes you can make.

Apparently ketchup and mustard on my hot dogs has always been controversial.
I don't eat hot dogs or hamburgers (or generally any other red meat) anymore, but back when I did, I also put ketchup and mustard on them.

No worries Hallo! I am aware and hahhaah a lot of people have warned me when I tell them

Twinkies aren't a thing in the area where I'm from so I was so confused about some people "cherishing" Twinkies online and Twinkies reference in that one movie.

I also remember that Twinkies are going to "discontinue" years ago and made a comeback . So, thank you for a short history on why Twinkies have such a strong branding.

One I've seen months ago that really struck me is that there are a lot of people that care far too much on whether someone orders "easy" food at restaurants. I think they should really mind their own business. People shouldn't be shamed for ordering food they know they'll be able to eat comfortably.

Food specific:

• I really dislike condiments, there's only a few I can tolerant.

• Crunchy cookies are better than soft cookies.

• Tres leches is the worst cake, I can't stand how moist the sponge is.

Liver and onions aren’t that bad if you prepare it correctly and season it just right.

Sweet and sour chicken from a Chinese restaurant will always be much better than the kind people try to make on their own using canned pineapples and vinegar.

  • I don't like the diced onions they put on McDonald's cheeseburgers. However, I do like onion rings and those that go alongside Japanese grilled hibachi meals. It probably has something to do with me not liking the texture of the small bits compared to their sliced counterparts. Regardless, I don't like them on sandwiches.
  • I'm an anti-pineapple on pizza guy. Yeah, I know. Those who like it can yell at me.
  • I put ketchup on steak, though only when at home. I don't do it at restaurants.
  • I'm not a coffee guy; I much prefer energy drinks. Yes, they're worse health-wise, but I limit myself. Hot drinks in general aren't really appetizing to me for some reason. Chicken broth, however, is something I actually do like. Is soup a food or drink?
  • I like most chocolate. When it comes to milk, however, I'd much rather have vanilla.
  • When it comes to preparing food, I want it either made quickly or with little effort as possible. Call me lazy, but eating is a much more enjoyable experience for me than preparing.

They weren't really discontinued. The company that made them was just going bankrupt. So another company bought the rights to start making/distributing them again. Most people don't really eat them even before they were put on hold briefly. I never tried them until afterwards, but most people who have tried the ones from before they made the switch said the flavor or something changed. Probably the company that bought them changed the recipe to cut corners.

There's a cake/donut company called Entenmann's where I live. When I was a kid that stuff tasted great. It was a family business that was founded like in the 1800s or something. Some other company bought them out in like 2010s and now it tastes like processed chemicals compared to how it used to taste fresh. I assume the same thing happened to twinkies.

  • I will always eat fries plain.
  • In fact, I’ll eat most food without any kind of dipping sauce, even chips. In my opinion, food shouldn’t need help! I also just want to enjoy the food itself!
  • I loooove raw vegetables.
  • Raw tomatoes? Amazing incredible showstopping. Cooked tomatoes? Keep it.
  • I’ll occasionally put syrup on corn dogs. It comes from eating those panacake/sausage sticks when I was little. 😆 I just thought they were the same thing and went with it.

That's fascinating. I actually didn't know that they changed hands after the previous company went bankrupt. Thank you for enlightening me more on that, I appreciate it! 😀
