I've never seen a villager wear a dress before, but if it's possible, I was going to buy some graciegrace dresses for a few of my villagers. I'm assuming that they can't, but if I'm wrong, that would be amazing! And if they really can't, then that's just something new to hope for in the next game!~

No, they can't. It'd be cute if they did that in the next game, though :3

No, they can't. They only wear shirts. On some villagers it's shaped like a dress, though, but they get the pattern from a shirt. It's similar to how when sheep villagers wear shirts, they're turned into scarves.

I guess shirts can't fit through their body.

I wish they could wear dresses. I've seen Gayle (when I had her ;_;) wearing one of my dress designs, BUT... it cut off at the waist, where a t-shirt would normally end. It looked really stupid, her wearing only half a dress. There were a few pixels of the skirt because it was kind of high-waisted. Plus, it was a design that was only for humans, so it had skin color near the collar. Ugh. I didn't even know that was possible.

Oml that sounds horrid HAHA. Thank you, and everyone, for the responses, though! It's so weird that they can't wear dresses...?
It would be so cute. Next AC, don't fail me now.

You can get creative with the shirts you design so that it looks like a dress on the villagers, I have seen people design a shirt as a shirt/skit or dress looking skirt by putting little tufts at the bottom and it works pretty well!
