Carrying on from a recent thread (Here), will you be buying the Switch 2 on or soon after release day?

I can't afford something like that right now so there's honestly no way to tell when I will get it. I would prefer to get it around Christmas if I really want it but that depends on my family's budget. It was kinda bad last Christmas..

I just got a lite Switch, I'm not ready for that. Maybe I will get a Switch 2 when they will launch another new console.

i answered maybe a few months because it really depends on what titles it has at launch. my switch lite has terrible joycon drift, and i barely play it as a result, so that definitely sways me into getting the new console, but the library is the main draw -- i didn't get said switch lite until new horizons launched. it would most likely have to be a new animal crossing title that gets me to buy it. pokemon ZA could but it really depends on how good it looks (because scarvio was awful imo) and if it's exclusive to the new switch. price is also definitely a factor.

So far I’m the only day 1 voter?

It can be frustrating working out any bugs with the company when you pick up a system that early, but I can’t resist that Nintendo usually has at least 1 big first party game ready for launch.

Shockingly, I think this is the FIRST time I won't be getting a Nintendo system at launch since.... the Nintendo 64 (not including the current Switch). Too many reasons for me not to get it day one, including the price, my current Switch backlog, and I'm just generally not ready for another console. It definitely depends on when it's coming out, but for now I'm a more of a wait a couple months at least person.

I'm not much of a gamer, so I'll wait a few months at the very least. It's more likely to be a year or two. It depends on the titles launched or what games happen to interest me. I really only play Super Mario spin-off games (like Kart or Party) for Nintendo.

Most likely not. I just got my new switch a couple months ago and my switch lite repaired around the same time when it stopped charging and I still have a backlog of games to play, not to mention I’m happy with it as it is minus the internet connection issues. I voted in a couple years. That could always change though.

I’m gonna ride the OLED train for a while. I honestly couldn’t believe the visible difference in the screen size and picture quality. Not going to even tempt myself by looking at a comparison of the two or I’ll just want to get it haha.

my vita put me on the oled supremist train, and honestly, the only reason I haven't gotten the oled switch yet is because I wanna see if the successer console is backwards compatible first

and hell, the only reason I got the switch before the oled switch was released was because of animal crossing tbt site events

also, to answer the thread's question, no plans to or to not of any sort for me. ask again, when we have more concrete info regarding the system

Yesss the lack of backwards compatibility would make it 100% a no-go for me, regardless of how I felt about the OLED.

tbh, I'm fine with it not being backwards compatible, though it'd be absolutely a better sale for nintendo if it was

it's just that if it is, it'd be silly of me to buy an oled and then end up with 3 systems which can play switch games in about a year or few from now

Most likely gonna wait a bit for a game that i would want to lock in for. Pokemon legends ZA is rly promising if it's gonna end up being on the switch 2.

Probably not for a while, so I voted in maybe a year or more! I'll almost certainly get one eventually, but I basically never buy consoles immediately after release, and usually wait a year or two. It could be sooner if there's a super must-have game for me that comes out early, but I typically like to wait until there's at least a few games I want for it before buying, and to see if there's any early-release issues (like the original Switch's poorer battery life) that'll be fixed if I buy later.
I still have a ton of games I'm currently playing/want to play on my Switch (and I'm still getting through my 3DS game backlog for that matter...), so I'm not in a rush.

It depends on the games that'll be available at/soon after launch, but honestly unless one of the launch titles is the next AC game or a new Tomodachi Life game (neither of which are likely imo), I don't see me getting the Switch 2 as soon as it comes out, or even at all if it's not a handheld/portable console.

I've only had my switch lite for less than 5 years, and while I haven't been getting much use out of it lately (due to a lack of interest in gaming in general, not the console), I'm still happy with it and am not really interested in shelling out cash for a new console so soon, especially if none of the launch titles interest me. I might be more tempted if it's backwards compatible, but even then, more than likely not going to be a day 1 purchase for me.

I am defenseless any time Nintendo releases a new console so I'll almost definitely get it day one. I'll be disappointed if it isn't backwards compatible or if there aren't any big exclusive launch games but I don't think that'd deter me from getting it right away since that was the case with the Switch and I still got it at midnight 😭

I'll most likely get it day one or very early on. I do hope it's backwards compatible and has some good launch titles though

I will buy one eventually. I can't tell when yet. It depends when games come out that are interesting to me - mainly animal crossing. As soon as AC comes out I will buy the console!

Maybe eventually. It depends on my economic situation and whether or not the games are good on it. I probably won't get any Pokemon games so it will largely be for the next Animal Crossing game and the other Nintendo franchises.
