Amiibo Update Questions

I have been away from NL for a while and just returned to find there has been an Amiibo update. I have a couple of questions and was hoping someone could answer them for me.

First, I hear there is new furniture available to obtain in game, do I need to use Amiibos to do this? I've never used Amiibos and don't intend to spend money on that.

Second, I hear characters from previous games have been added to this game, do I need Amiibos for this too or can I encounter these villagers without ever going near Amiibo cards or figurine thingies?

Other than sitting on rocks and fixing the glitches in the game what other updates will affect me that don't involve spending the money to buy and use amiibo stuff?

You need to get the cards to get the items and AC GC villagers, unless you buy them from someone on here. They can get the items and villagers for you with their cards. Villagers from the figures aren't like this though. Yoy need the actual figure. Items are the same as the card items.

You can go visit the campground and buy things from there with the MEOW coupons you can earn in game by doing the tasks listed.

Nope! No cards or amiibos needed to earn or redeem MEOW coupons! When you talk to Harvey in the RV campground, he explains the whole MEOW coupon process to you.

You can also try to visit the card or figure villager's RVs from other users towns. There are some threads offering visits if you want items from certain villager's RVS. C:
