i’m assuming they’ll be making amiibo cards for the newer villagers right?

They probably will since they are reproducing the old cards as well but with the current state of the world it could be a while. Nothing has been confirmed yet though, except that the old cards are to release again this summer if all goes well. New cards might roll out with the old ones returning.

Question for y'all: When the animal crossing amiibo cards first came out, did they sell out immediately? Will we have to worry about scalpers/hoarders with the next release of amiibo cards?

As I said before, I wouldn’t expect a new set of cards until next year at the earliest. Probably with a “welcome Amiibo” style set with more new ones and returning classics (WOOLIO!).

I'd be over the moon to see Woolio return! He was my fav in GC. One day, Star-sheep. One day.u_u,

When the amiibo cards first came out they were hugely unpopular, because the only games they worked with were Happy Home Designer and Amiibo Festival. That caused them to be super cheap, where you could buy even the most popular characters for like $1. That all changed with the Welcome Amiibo update in New Leaf. Once the cards became compatible with that game, the prices started to skyrocket. Now with New Horizons, I don't see the prices for them coming back down anytime soon. So yeah, it's likely that we'll have to deal with scammers, but the good news is that they'll be in production, so you'll be able to find them at retail prices instead of scalper ebay ones.

They were scalped, BUT the packs were easy to get. I ended up just ordering full boxes and selling the extras. Ended up coming out ahead, too, even with pricing them lower than what everyone else was selling them for.

Wonder if this would drive the price of a Raymond down...
one of my hopes. the bids on raymond on this site to me are kinda ridiculous. 100 million for raymond? that’s a bit much if you ask me but i understand because he currently doesn’t have an amiibo along with the other new ones lol

of course, there’s gonna be those complete buttholes on e-bay who overprice amiibo for like 50+ if the character is popular. they get on my nerves lol
