So, I started off playing City Folk and Wild World years ago. I never got villagers from other towns and obviously there were no Amiibo cards. I never made villagers move either, if they moved then that was fine but I never went out of my way. It really made me focus on the villagers I was dealt and most likely learn to love their quirks.

Now I know I don't have to use Amiibos, trust me I know. But is it just me or do the Amiibo cards take away some fun from the game? At the scan of a card I can have any villager. That on top of the fact the personalities were nicened up for younger kids, kinda makes the game less fun, ya know?

I like the idea of Sanrio RV cards and RV cards in general bringing back more villagers but idk, I know a lot of people will probably disagree. Let me know your opinion! Do Amiibo cards take away from the game?

I totally agree. I got the welcome amigo cards for the furniture, but I won't use them to get villagers to move. Seems to defeat the purpose! Just like I will do the reset trick to try and move new houses to where I want them, but I never peek at who is moving in. I want to see all the villagers at the pace it was meant to be in the game.

Hahahaha welcome amigo!

Hahahaha welcome amigo!

Lol! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I mean I'm totally ruining it for myself I use and collect cards but idk it still takes away some fun!

I really disagree, it actually makes it more fun because now I know where all my neighbours houses are and that they're not going to moveso I can actually get on with landscaping and planning my town. If we didnt have amiibos I'd still be waiting to get villagers out, afraid to do anything just incase someone moves there. :)

I'm of a different mindset. Being a Legend of Zelda fan I like that I can ask the new villagers to move in, and with the other amiibo cards I never have to worry about losing my dreamies because I'm careless with TTing. I still intend to build relationships with them, of course, but given that I have to squeeze playing the game into living as an adult and working most of the week, I have a lot to squeeze in in very little time so every advantage helps

I love moving villagers in with amiibo cards! I find it very comforting to know that if my town has all but one villager moved in with an amiibo card, only that one villager will ask to move. Has the dialogue changed for different personalities though? I hadn't noticed.

i think they were very unnecessary tbh moving in villagers from other towns was easy enough

The watered down personalities in NL is the worse thing about the game. Cranky ones aren't cranky, the snooty ones aren't really snooty. Peppy and Lazy are the only ones that seem to have personalities. And Smug villagers are so boring if you're not a female character.

In WW the villagers had so much personality.

I do feel it kinda ruins the fact that random move-ins wouldn't have much time in towns, hence kinda making the original factor in which the creators of the game wanted us to realize that appeareance doesn't make the person, but what they are in heart.
Makes it kinda disappointing we can't see that.

I guess I partially agree with you. It takes away the fun of random villagers moving in.. But it's also so much more convenient. I've started moving in my dreamies with amiibo cards and I find myself actually talking to my villagers now. Back then u would ignore them because I disliked most of them. Now, if a dreamy moves out, I can move them back in, too! It allows me to focus on other things :) Mind you, I still move villagers out naturally, without using amiibo cards. But as soon as a spot us free, I move a card villager in. It's actually made it much more fun for me. That's the great thing though.. It's not like the game forces you to use amiibo cards so if it takes your fun away, just don't do it :)

I am on the fence about it. I looove that I have moved in all my favorite villagers, my town feels like home seeing all their faces. I do miss the randomness of meeting new characters I guess. I meet them at my camp but still, my gamecube animal crossing days are nothing like this game. So the sentimental half of me misses it a bit.

It's obviously a mixed bag. We all like something a little different and can pick and choose how we play the game. I like having the option to use the cards to replace the boring, ugly (glass house), annoying and useless varmints. Turns out that, although I can load a town any way I want, I rarely do and just let the game do its thing. Still, the option is the best part of the cards for *me*.

Very much agree. Having options is the best part :)
