A new duplication glitch has discovered!

Wonder if there's something going on with their QA team? Are they not testing patches because of the virus situation? That would make sense why so many glitches are coming through. That or there's a LOT of people trying to find all these exploits in every nook and cranny (hah) of the game.

And I thought everything would be done after the update. I feel bad for the developers. As soon as they patch one thing, another blows.

You know what I want to duplicate? Saves! I need a glitch that makes backup saving available! Imagine how crazy would it be if Nintendo themselves discovered the glitch and told us all how to replicate it?!

Damn! That would be cool!

I figured this would happen. I just didn't expect this to be discovered so quickly. It's similar to the duplication glitch in New Leaf.

oh, this is just the exact same glitch I was talking about that did allow nmt duplication back when the game was new and people were getting on my ass saying it was impossible to dupe nmts

glad to see it's getting the spotlight finally

There probably is such a thing if you hack. I haven't played any Pokemon since Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, but people found ways to back up their Pokemon saves.

The only reason I can think of for why Nintendo doesn't allow cloud saves is they're afraid of item duping. Duping: the thing people are figuring out ways of doing anyway.

Aww Money! It makes anything possible. Greed will make people find a way. I am not talking bells. I am talking real world money. Often times these dupe glitches are found by people looking to sell in-game items for real world money. Gold Sellers (for those that MMO)!

I just hope people don't blame Nintendo for this again. Pisses me off when they do. "Oh games release with so many glitches these day. These companies are only out for a quick buck. Blah blah blah!" This game was created and tested a lot. They did not actively go out of there way to look for every possible way to cheat. That would be insane to try and do. Game are far more complex these days as well. Though ask a speed runner if they know anything about gold games and exploits. They might not be duping in game items, but there are plenty to go around.

Argh! Sorry for the rant. Just getting ready for the wave of blame that will surly hit the fan. :D

In the end though. Forget the market value. Trade what you want for what you want. That has always been the way it is. If your not out to make money. No amount of duping will affect you. If you are not out to get rich. Then duping will only make things easier on you. People who get upset over the duping are upset cause the value dropped on what they want to sell. I don't need to make money. I just look for stuff I want and duping makes that really easy for me.

So there we go. Both sides of the coin (in a ways).

I don't think it ever ends. Totally different game, but with Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, anytime a glitch has ever been patched, a new one would end up appearing. I wonder if there is a way to specifically remove duplicating, like if they're able to dig deeper into the game somehow and find it and completely remove it. This glitch is unsafe, anyway, because you're not supposed to disconnect the game when visiting other islands, and I guess some people have had their game corrupted from ending visitations with the minus button.

I think some people were already doing that, which is why you see people giving out so many free Raymonds + other new villagers. I could definitely be wrong about that though.

Edit: I accidentally quoted a bunch of ppl omg I’m so sorry

Seems that as soon as the devs patch a glitch, someone figures out a different way to do that exact same glitch.

Developers perpetually trying to patch these glitches:

I agree with almost everything you said. But I will say, I could care less what the state of the economy is or what is valued how. I am still upset about dupe glitches because I just don’t want a duped item in my game ever, for any reason. I am very averse to cheating (my brother calls me AC lawful good), I never accept any benefits or items gained via TT and I don’t want items gained via glitches either. Even if they’re free. I would rather earn it fair and square. And I don’t think I’m the only one who feels this way, so there are reasons to not like the glitch if you play online with others.

if I thought everyone who was doing the duping would be honest about it when trading/selling the duped items I’d probably be a lot less upset, but that’s not really the case since as you said, most of them are doing it for real world profit. So it makes me wary of trading with others, which is a part of the game I love, so it’s sad for me.

We can't back up our save file because Nintendo is scared of cheating but people find a new cheat every update.
Nintendo just let us back our save already.😒

It's actually old, but just so it's clear as the original post doesn't give any sort of disclaimer...It involves interrupting the autosave process while it's IN PROGRESS... If that doesn't raise red flags, I don't know what will. If you're greedy to the point where you don't mind risking corrupting your save, go right on ahead...otherwise, stay far away from this.

Wait nintendo won't give me a backup save because they are worried people will abuse it? THAT'S why I can't have a backup save?

Sadly people who want to dupe will always try and find a way to do so. It's frustrating, but that is the honest truth.

I tagged Nintendo of Japan, America, Europe, and UK on Twitter. I'm not expecting a response, but hopefully this won't go overlooked.
