New option for player characters? Secret update?? [debunked]

I was loading up my 2nd character to change the date, and I saw this option!
I've never recalled seeing it, or heard it mentioned before. o.0
What does this mean? Can we move to our friend's towns now???

It's always been there. It moves your character out of the current town and into a new town as Mayor. It's purpose is if you start the game on someone else's copy but eventually purchase your own copy wanting to have your own town to be Mayor.

You keep everything -- your house moves intact, your bank account also. Your catalog, emotes, badges, everything.
