How to decorate your house's central room??

wow all these pictures are inspirational! I had problem with my first room too so I totalyl understand OP's pain!

This is kinda what I have going on right now. I used to have a big table in the middle of the room to place photos and I had my kitchen in the east room with the other turkey day furniture.
I'd since made some changes. I've moved my photos on the walls and the kitchen into the main room so I could craft/cook/get dressed as soon as I get in the house. Now it kinda has a cozy cafe vibe.
