New! Let's talk TBT bells!

:] soooo! I'm new here! Have been playing animal crossing since the GameCube. :] I've managed to collect plenty of bells from fishing and netting beetles. I've noticed here that a lot of people trade via TBTs. I've kind of got the hang of earning them, but I wish I could use IGB simply since I'm not much of a talker. XD how do these transactions go? Do you transfer the bells before or after they drop the items off? And what else can you do with these TBTs? Why are they so important? @.@

TBT are also used to buying account upgrades, such as name changes, wider avatar image, animated avatars, etc

And as for sending the TBT, the transactions I've had, most people seem to send them after the trade has been done.
