I personally think humor is one of our greatest coping mechanisms, and that seeing the humor in a sad, traumatic or frustrating situation can make things less sad, traumatic or frustrating when you think about and reflect on them. I know this can't be applied to every person in every situation, but I think that having a sense of humor, even a really dark sense of humor, can be a beneficial thing when dealing with your issues, and I think that's a big part of why offensive jokes exist.
So what do you think? Do you think being able to laugh or joke about something terrible that happened makes it easier to cope with? Have you experienced any real-life examples of this? I certainly have.
