Why should I have to prove I want a certain villager? If I say he/she is my dreamie, I mean it. Someone said proof is a signature? I use a 3DS to browse/post so I can't add that. Lost so many giveaways because I need stupid "proof"....rediculous

He he he, I just roll with it. Had someone make me a signature so I have a chance.

But I don't require 'dreamie' proof in my giveaways. Instead, most villagers are to whomever is interested, and a small minority of 'popular' villagers are given to someone I select from those who've helped the community, or have adopted unpopular villagers from me.

yea I hate that too, I only have dreamie proof for this site and not ACCC because something else is my signature and I want to keep it that way~•

well, i understand it more as kind of making sure that you won't just sell or void the 'dreamie.' of course this isn't YOU i'm talking about, the 'you' is a general term. it's like adoption, they have to make sure the person will love this ANCL character forever, instead of just picking a random person who doesn't care about it as much.

(THOUGH lack of 'proof' certainly doesn't mean that you don't want the 'dreamie' as bad as another person.)

I use to demand dreamie proof because I had heard that it lessened the chances of a reseller obtaining a tier one for free, but almost immediately had to alter that to include people that I saw had a good wi-fi rating, or talked about wanting the villager before in a post.... oh I see from your wifi comments that you're very helpful - sure you can enter... etc. etc.

Nowadays I try to contact the person looking by PM more often than not. Less disappointed people that way. I figure it's still 100% random chance. You're on when I'm looking and the villager is in boxes.

Most people in the community are trustworthy, so if they say they won't sell a villager I believe them, dreamie proof is kind of excessive in my opinion.

And to be honest, if they do re-sell them, oh well, it's just pixels. ;l

Why should anyone have to prove anything? It's a game, an addicting game, but still a game.
I would understand if you had to pay real money for something, but you're not.
So why are we having to prove anything?

It's a small safeguard against resellers. Even then, they can just quickly put a name into a dreamie list in their signature and that's that circumvented.

Honestly it's somewhat impossible to stop it from happening, but at least you can keep an eye on what happens to villagers on TBT (for the most part).

I think it's more of like, you want your popular villager to go to someone who really actually wants them and isn't just going to go to another site and auction them off for tons of bells. I understand why people require proof, though I'm really sorry you've lost so many giveaways :/ That's dumb. Maybe just put a small list as text in your sig? Though that's still not good enough for some people... I don't get why cycling threads require it for the most part. Like, they're going through hundreds of villagers all the time. Idk.

I made my signature in GIMP and MS Paint, so it's not that hard. Anyone could make you a sig, too.

Dreamie proof is needed by people because they want to make sure that you'll keep the villager safe and that the buyer won't sell/void the villager.

I myself, usually look at wifi ratings and past posts to see if they have been looking for the villager I'm giving away. Sadly, creating a signature is really easy so people can fake having a certain villager as a dreamie. But it's really the buyers choice. They have the villager, so they can make whatever rules they want.

it is to keep animal trafficking and slavery legitimate and honorable. but i always believe in the old saying "no honor amongst thieves"

Yeah I guess but not everyone can make sigs or even edit their sigs due to not having a computer or whatever. Trust me, posting on this site on anything but a computer is difficult, and trying to design/code with out a computer is hard as well.

They just want to make sure you're not grabbing the villager to sell off. They want it to go to a town where the person who gets the villager will keep them and love them.

Dreamies are all the rage right now, akin to Silly Bandz and Heelies, so people want to make sure their extremely valuable, oh-so-rare lines of code are safe with someone who idolizes that code. Don't think of it as "proof", think of it as testing a data backup system.

heelies were purchased by 12 year olds that couldn't afford a skateboard your argument is invalid

It's a community thing, it's fun to do in my opinion and it creates some competition just like Neopets. <:

Well that's just my view of it, I have no problem. If I've wanted a villager for a while, I'd prolly have them on my signature anyways for changes of somebody notifying me.

People who ask for dreamie proof tend to ask for it to make sure that the person they'll be giving the villager to won't try to re-sell or void the villager, so that if they have a free villager to give away and it's a very popular one they can make sure it goes to someone who really wants the villager and not someone who is going to sell that villager for a profit.

I'm not saying I necessarily agree with it, but it doesn't seem like a bad reasoning to me and everyone has different degrees to which they take the game seriously. Really, it's their game and their villager to do what they want with it. If you don't want to be asked for proof that you really like a certain villager, don't participate in giveaways with that rule or buy the villager instead.

Well, OP, first of all I'd like to welcome you to the internet.

Second of all, there is a reasonably logical side to dreamie proof. However annoying it is, complaint threads will most likely, 99.9% top dreamie proof on the annoying scale.

If you were to give a villager, say, Marshal, away to someone who did not have dreamie proof, they may sell that villager, cycle it out. This can offend people because we are humans with emotions and preferences that we have to respect

If I'm offering the villager, I can ask for whatever I want. I think you should calm down and grow up. If you don't like the terms, get the villager from someone else. No need to whine about it. With an attitude like that, I wouldn't give you a villager with or without proof.
