WTF is with this dreamie "proof" crap?

OP, I agree. I never understood the whole dreamie proof thing. If you want him, you should be able to enter a giveaway raffle or just a giveaway. Even if he or she is not a dreamie. I personally think it's wrong.

So I shouldn't be allowed to set my own standards for giving away a villager?

I always forget how entitled people can be, especially when someone is giving something away.

If someone wants dreamie proof before giving away a villager (especially popular ones), that's their business. I wish people would just let others do what they want with their villagers, towns, etc without causing a fuss over it. Smh.

I don't think it's entitled to think something is unfair.

Do you have to provide proof that you really want and need the money before entering the lottery?

Don't get me wrong though, I do think that people should be able to do what they want in their giveaways but I also think others are entitled to their own opinions and I understand how someone could disagree with the concept.

You have to pay to enter the lottery. I'd get the complaints if someone was SELLING a villager, but I'm strictly talking giveaways here.
If you feel it's unfair, you don't have to enter their raffle or giveaway if you don't want to.

Why should I have to prove I want a certain villager? If I say he/she is my dreamie, I mean it. Someone said proof is a signature? I use a 3DS to browse/post so I can't add that. Lost so many giveaways because I need stupid "proof"....rediculous

It has to do with the people who are, or have been, in a position to adopt out a hugely popular villager (from the ranks of Hound00med's thread on Villager Trading Plaza) having spent their time and efforts getting these popular villagers (especially in cycle towns). That they are being willing to adopt the hugely popular villager out under some pretty favorable terms. (Aside from auctions or buyouts, there are forum members who have done Giveaways. I have done two Giveaways for Top-Tier villagers: Marshal and Fauna.)

The Dreamy Proof is with the purpose that the seller can see that a buyer (or one who would be getting a free adoption) is someone who isn't going to turn around and sell the hugely popular villager for profit.

Anyone can simply add a sprite to their signature that says "Dreamy" in a few seconds, so I find it to be stupid to be asking for it. Personally, I hate seeing villagers being sold, regardless of how popular they are. I really do.

For that reason, I have seen some of those people hosting giveaways distinguish between a signature that simply has text or a sprite, as opposed to a signature image that they or another member designed showing up their 'dreamies.'

As for me: As pointed out earlier, I have chosen to forgo even that form of 'dreamie proof,' as to me anyone who has been here long enough (I would say quite short so long as he is an active poster) would have the TBT to take a minute to request a custom signature image, and many of those people may not have even noticed they had a lot of TBT until they learned that cyclers are looking for those signature images (after all, just by posting here you get it).

Instead, for the popular villagers, I am more interested in what they've done to help other members of the community, for example by helping others find 'dreamies,' helping others 'fix' their town after getting it ransacked, etc., as THAT takes time and effort.

I don't see any competitions in real life, where you have to pay to enter of not, which offer real items as prizes, that you need to prove that you REALLY want the prize in order to enter. As I said, I don't personally disagree with dreamie proof I'm just trying to see it from the other side.

I just don't understand why people are attacking the OP an calling them things such as "entitled". It's not like they're posting on a giveaway asking for dreamie proof, demanding to be entered without proof and calling the giveaway stupid. They are just posting a separate topic to state their own opinions, which is fine.

I get where you're coming from. But this isn't real life or anything, so it's totally up to the person giving the villager away.
Honestly, if the OP had started this thread off politely and not attacked someone else a couple of pages ago - I wouldn't think they were entitled. Someone's attitude and speech has a lot to do with how their perceived, and to me, they came off entitled and whiny.
It is up to whoever has the villager what they do with it. If someone requires dreamie proof, like I said, that's up to them. Plenty of people don't.

Even if the person is a photoshop, MS Paint, or GIMP pro, it's up to the person who is hosting the giveaway or Cycling thread (as I do) to ask for a signature/dreamie proof.

Many of community members are doing something selfless (as others have said previously) and want to know what YOU have contributed to the community (as the extremely sweet Zulehan does), or if you've been doing anything besides complaining about a simple rule that someone has put.

I agree completely with Bearica, if the opening post didn't come off as whiny and entitled, I'd understand the frustration. I'd even make a signature for them, as I have done for others, no big deal. But to ridicule a relatively common rule that takes little/no time to comply with because you don't feel like putting forth the effort doesn't sit well with me.

LEARN TO READ! Not EVERYONE has access to a computer. I'm in college so all I can afford is a damn 3ds which FYI does not have image editing programs. You are the one acting entitled-" I have a PC and im a photoshop pro i can make signatures for a stupid rule leedleleedleleedle" I sometimes wonder if people like you can even read/see. Or maybe your one of the many people in this thread that read the title and started ranting. **** this forum, I'm out. I'll just grind everything I need. Bye douches.

You go to "Settings" and select "signature" and you write:
Town:Mayor
Residents: I love that one, she's got to go, meh, meh, meh, yes, no, absolutely not
Dreamies: This one, that one, him, and her

Done. Dreamie proof sorted. My amazingly craptastic signature I did on my phone, but it has absolutely served as dreamie proof. People noticed and helped me get a dreamie because it was in my sig. Not difficult. You can do that on the 3DS - it's no harder than posting to the forum.
