I would love a second island, I have so many ideas for what I want to do with mine that completely conflict I would definitely make full use of it. However it's definitely not worth buying another switch. My version is physical so at least I wouldn't have to buy another copy I suppose. Maybe if I ever ended up with a cheap secondhand switch but that's unlikely haha
As someone who had 7 copies of NL, yeah I've really debated getting a new system to have a second town. I have a lot of ideas, and ultimately my current town is going to be a cat village down the line, so I'd like to have a different town with other villager types in it. Maybe someday.
I have a second island and feel so lucky and happy to have two! I would be going nuts otherwise, stuck at home due to the pandemic, and it helps so much to be able to play New Horizons for umpti-bazillion hours a day. (grin)
Some people might think I was obsessed with ACNL when we were playing that one, because I had three 3DSXL's and three cartridge copies and played the game just short of 4,000 hours. But I don't watch TV or have streaming services or anything like that, so I'm saving money that way and spending it on Animal Crossing. Anyway, even before the pandemic I planned to order a yellow Switch Lite for a second ACNH town, and did that a few months before the game was released.
I do like being able to go to the other island when I have done everything I can think of at my main island. I don't feel like two islands are too much for me. I love this game!
I am playing two ACNH islands, one on a regular Switch and one on a Switch Lite. The screen is a little bit smaller but not small enough that it bothers me. I do miss the "rumble" effect when I catch fish, though! It isn't nearly as good on the Switch Lite. On the other hand, I like the lighter weight of the Switch Lite. It's not so tiring to hold it after playing a few hours. So I think both have their advantages and disadvantages, although if I had to choose a favorite I think the regular switch would be it, but just barely.
While I’m sure I could save for a lite, literally my only use for it would be for a second town, which seems wasteful. I have a second 3ds, but only because I got it cheap, and I didn’t want to “modify” my main one. I’m also a huge fan of the 3ds and ds game libraries, while the switch has limited offerings in comparison.
Kudos to anyone with a second switch and town (I’m jealous lol), but I could never justify it unless it got it for a ridiculous price.
If I had a second one id probably just use it to cycle/get items from diff seasons. Just one island is already eating up so much time, I def dont have time for 2 islands lol
If saves were cartridge-bound rather than system-bound, I would absolutely have another island! I'd love to have one that I can go headlong into developing + pathing, and another where things are more chill and natural. Trying to get those styles to co-exist on one island is... troublesome, lol. I want to sit down and plan things out, but at the same time I'm afraid to spend so much time getting everything 'just so' only to realize I don't like the end result... or heaven forbid, spend hours developing everything only to realize I was happier before I put in all that effort and then have to work to erase all those paths and take everything down. I feel like I could really let loose in my main island if I had a secondary one.
i would! i have so many ideas and villagers that i want and so getting a second island is definitely a possibility in the future - i’m just a little hesitant since in order to have a second island, i’ll have to get a second switch, too aha
I had a spare island in NL. I treated my second island purely as a resource island. I traded from there. Stored extra stuff there. I time travelled like crazy. Basically anything to support your main island while keeping your main island pristine.
I could not have developed it without driving myself crazy.
I have to admit, it was nice having that second island. I saw a lot of interesting villagers come and go. I bred flowers. I went back in time to catch fish I missed. It was good!
