It sounds nice on paper to me, but in reality it probably would be a bad idea for me, since I would feel obligated to do all the daily stuff in that town as well, which is a time investment I`m not really willing to make, I learned that from New Leaf.
I'm very fortunate my partner is also playing the game on his Lite, so effectively I can participate in decorating a second island without having to slog through the tutorial or daily chores. I actually think his island theme might be cooler than mine
But what does stink is that I'll eventually have to buy a second copy of the game to have a character on his island. The logistics of primary console/users and who downloaded what software is too complicated for its own good.
I don't think I would... I feel like it'd take away from the attachment I have to my current island. That, plus I don't have the spare money lying around for another Switch and copy of the game!
I can definitely see the appeal but personally don't think I would/will. Definitely not if they keep the 1 island per switch thing (a physical copy? achievable but no way am I able to buy another console, I had to go for the lite as it is). Sure it'd be nice to have other villagers and a whole different theme but the thought of having to terraform and decorate all over again is just too overwhelming tbh. I'm getting really attached to my current one too lol so I'm not sure it would work
If I could afford two more switches I absolutely would but sadly, the second switch I’m planning to get is gonna have to be used for my brother to have his own island instead of being on mine. I have 4 NL towns (because getting one of those costs way way less than 300 dollars, thankfully) and one of them is space-themed and I would love to be able to make a space-themed island, but I guess I’m weird in that I don’t want to copy the same theme I did in NL if I’m only getting to have one island. Plus, I already named my island with something else in mind and can never change it.
I'm not against the idea of a second island (I bought an extra copy of New Leaf to have a themed island), but I'm not planning to do so quite yet. I already find myself happily playing New Horizons for hours each day and I don't know if I'd ever have time to have a second island with this iteration, especially with more content yet to come.
Maybe in a couple of years if a cute AC themed Lite is offered.
I feel like my Switch has been having some little problems lately. There's been several different things I've noticed, but one especially annoying issue is that it doesn't seem to want to play undocked with the joycons attached. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. This is in addition to joycon drift and running hot/fast.
I'm getting a Switch Light so I can play it to go and just keep my Switch to play hooked up to the TV only. I mainly just want to preserve my existing Switch.
I wouldn't.
This would take double the time im spending on my current island.
I prefer having one place that I love, rather than two semi-completed islands
Eh nah. I would want to cycle with a second copy, but it’s too much work now. I cycled a little while finding my dream villagers but it was so much work crafting items for amiibo villagers that I wouldn’t even wanna cycle.
If it didn't require me to have another spare switch, then I'd buy a 2nd copy in a heartbeat. While I don't do it as much, I still TT in my game, so I'd love to have another island that'd REALLY make me wait & grind. As a challenge - I think it'd be pretty fun!
However, if I'm unable to use a physical copy on my switch, then the only option I (and others) have is to shell out another $260 and that is not something I can freely do.
I mean, it's sounds tempting to have a second island, then again I'm not that rich to get another Switch + a second copy of the game. Besides, I still have lots to do with my current island, so I guess I will stick with one.
I'm currently satisfied with having one island. I did have 2 copies of ACNL but I did buy them cheap. The only reason I started a second town is to make a more "perfect" town, learning from my mistakes I made in my first town. But in NH you can reverse or change almost anything, so I'm happy reforming my island and getting rid of imperfections. I only made like 5% progress before getting burnt out on my second town anyway haha. Plus, I don't think I can justify shelling out $550 for another Switch lmao.
I'd love to have another one but it would be so expensive to get a Switch Lite and another copy of the game. I had three towns with different "themes", villagers etc. with New Leaf and I definitely miss that.
Maybe one day if I feel truly desperate... but it seems like such a non necessary purchase, I'd feel guilty for the rest of my days.
If I could afford another switch, absolutely. I loved having multiple towns in New Leaf since it allowed me to have more villagers I wanted. Your island in ACNH has so much potential and I'd love to create another theme on a new island.
