Would you consider getting a second Island?

If you have the funds/mean, why not? Setting aside the current discussion on Nintendo's design decision with 1 island per switch, the infrastructure (although not the best) in having 1 at home console and 1 portable console, sharing digital library is there. There are a few guides online and on YouTube that will walk you through how to best setup/configure the 2 consoles so that you can play your digital library on both consoles. Don't quote me, but I believe the portable unit, meaning, the system that doesn't need internet connection ALL THE TIME, will need to be set as the primary. This should be your Switch Lite. That way, when you take it out on trips, it won't be pinging for connectivity in order for you to play your digital library of games.

I would get a second island if it was just buying a second copy of the game, but I am not going to buy another Switch/Switch Lite just to get a second island.

I want an island I can go totally crazy experimenting with terraforming on. I really like the layout I picked, so I've done very little terraforming on it. But I want to see what I could come up with an island I was more chill about.

if i could i would like to have a second island with a different decorative theme since decorating the island is such a fun part of this game for me especially since they added the ability to put furniture outside. unfortunately i couldnt afford a second copy much less a second switch

I'd get 4 copies of the game, if it was like in NL and the save was attached to the cartridge. One island in every season. Sadly I don't think I can afford another switch, maybe in a few years once the hype (and price) has died down!

If I could make another profile on my switch and start one then yes. Absolutely! But considering the current state of things I definitely won’t.

I would just to have an entire island dedicated to breeding for hybrids, and maybe give away the villagers on the second island for free since I would be TTing on it anyways. But as it stands, I'm pretty happy with my current island without any TTing, I get plenty of hybrids every day.

I enjoy NH, but not that much.

Honestly the biggest factor that would prevent me from getting a second copy is that slog of a first week. It takes forever to get up and running in NH whereas in NL, where I did have two copies, you could just pick it up and go immediately. I know TT is always a thing but eh...

If you could have a second island on the same switch, I would IN A HEART BEAT.
I would even set up that profile that is for the second island on the same switch to even be on my Nintendo Switch Online Family Plan.

But, I am not buying a lite (or another switch since I bought the ACNH one and sold my old one to my bf who wanted a switch) so no option for second island for me. Sad day.

I'm really tempted to do so because I really want more space to decorate, more villagers to interact with, and well, to experience being in two hemispheres at once! But as how many others have already brought up, it's way too costly (buying a new switch, getting another copy of the game - which I don't really mind paying for, as I currently only have the digital copy not physical - , and getting another nintendo subscription), I don't think I'll actually be doing that anytime soon. ;___;

No, I feel like I'd have a "good" island and one that I just use for resources, cycling and storage, which would make me feel bad lol

If NH allowed multiple Islands just by having different cartridges, then I'd love to get a second Island. But since it requires getting a whole other Switch, no. I don't see myself spending money on another Switch just to get a second island. I would never use the other Switch for anything besides that so it's not really a justifiable purchase even if I'd really love to have a second island. :(

Thanks for the responses.
I guess as much as I'm tempted to, I don't think it would be a good idea because of the whole commitment of starting a brand new Island from scratch.
If I ever do it, it will probably happen much later just so I can have a physical copy for my personal Nintendo collection. Going to stick to one Island for now - it's already very time-consuming so I think it would just lose its charm esp. with all the daily chores/activities.

I'd love a second island to just get a natural group of villagers, it would be fun to see if i got any new favourites, but i'd never buy a second switch for anything let alone ac, the consoles kinda junky tbh

I have a second one, but I haven't had the time/motivation to actually progress in it...

I have two. It works for me and that's all it really comes down to.
My main town is my focus. My second town is just an extra for dumping for giveaway items, extra villagers to run through/experience and giveaway as they ask, turnip flipping (when one town has a good price, I go to sunday on the other and sell nonstop), TT without caring about weeds/etc. Eventually I will theme it but not until my first is complete which I'm in no rush for.

I'm thinking to get a Switch lite, but the screen is too small. So still thinking about the how to get them work out.

lol, It's already too late for me to make this decision. I have a second island set to southern hemisphere. It's great, but if I'm not careful, it does cause burnout on the game. So I have to play either one or the other, but not both. It weird how it happened though. I already had my regular switch for years as a bday gift to myself. Then I got the digital download on my regular switch when my physical copy was delayed because of covid-19. Some time back before the corona virus hit, my buddy got a switch lite for 'nostalgia reason'(apparently he thought it for a gameboy advance and bought it at a sale.) Same friend also got a Japanese copy of ACNH because he said it was cheaper. I don't even know how he got his hands on a JP cart copy! Anyway, my friend didn't like the game, or the lite, but he didn't want the hassle of selling them, so he gifted them to me. I admit I was happy about that because I really wanted the physical after mine was cancelled. So now I have a full Switch, Switch lite, digital copy, and a Japanese copy.
