Will I eventually have to remove weeds, or can I bypass this?

I’m on the ‘get KK Slider to come to the island’ quest, and I assume the last goal about ‘improving the island’ is similar to New Leaf perfect towns. I heard from a friend weeds decrease the town rating. So, will I have to remove all of my weeds? I really have a lot; and honestly, I like them. Is there another method to increase rating so I can bypass the weed removal? Let me know my option. Thanks!

i did not have to remove mine to get a 3 star rating, afaik 25-50 diy furniture items, 100 flowers and ~50 fences are what will get you there!

You don't have to remove everything. I did though but I still had some weeds spawn here and there and still got 3 stars.

At worse case, collect them, store them, then bring them back out and put them exactly where you want them!
