Also, why does a villager being called by an amibo decrease their price? I notice most people put something like "Not invited by amibo" in titles, or maybe it's just me.

A lot of my friend who like raymond also like byakuya from danganronpa, so i guess raymond kinda has the same vibe as him? as for non danganronpa fans, i have no idea lol. he is pretty cool though
Honestly I think Sherb is cuter but he wouldn't make it on my top 25
New cat villager with appealing design, hard to get without campsite trick or paying lot of NTM, because there is no amiibo card of him. Some people even pay real money (I have seen listings of over 1000$ on ebay for him) to get him. But to summarize: rarity, a cat villager, appealing design and internet memes. That’s about it, I think.

Because of the glitches surrounding amiibos probably, there was always a risk with them being involved
For the maid outfit, I particularly remember that he went viral for it. I also don't think a lot of people were expecting him to react so well to getting a maid outfit and wear it right after (and possibly more after that). But I do remember seeing Marshal wear a dress as well in someone else's video? So I think it's particular male villagers who will take a dress, and Raymond is one of them.
And yeah, the reason he's going for way too much is because he doesn't have an amiibo card yet, so he's technically harder to get at the moment.

I think his popularity has to die out. 1000 dollars for a collection of pixels forming a cat. Nintendo doesn't even allow selling in game items.
Nintendo needs to come and ruin the popularity before it skyrockets to the point where everyone is broke, INTRODUCE AMIBO CARDS FOR THEM ALREADY!!!!

I personally only like him because he looks like one of my neighbor’s cat that I used to look after when they weren’t home for long periods of time. (Then he died ;-; )
I got him through TT and the campsite. I’m really surprised people aren’t using the campsite method to get him instead of wasting NMTs and spending actual i r l money which is crazy.
Also btw I don’t think his aesthetic is “hipster”, it’s more of the “formal” look. Hipster to me would be flannels, beards, and aviator glasses. Just go to Seattle and you’ll get a good idea.

Nintendo it's not responsible for the economy outside their game, their only interest of making cards is actually getting money from them, not to stabilize this economy (not to mix with the real money thing, as far as I know that's illegal). And with the pandemic, this could take a while

I dunno where you're looking but he's not going for that much at all, I've never seen Raymond go for more than $100 and there are tons of $30-35 buy it now listings. You could also just buy NMT instead and then purchase Raymond from a player for cheaper than that.

right? like if someone really doesn't want to the campsite method because they consider it cheating, that's their own decision and it's fine, they play the way they want to. but the type of person who would pay real money for him would certainly also be willing to time travel and reset their game?? it's a complete waste of money for something that they could absolutely do themselves. granted not everyone knows about the campsite method, but again, if you're willing to pay real money...you'd think that you would do some research lol

I'm planning to try out the campsite method later today, tbh. It's obviously better than spending irl money.
I think they may mean NMT, because he's going for as high as that at the moment. I haven't seen $1000 irl money listings but definitely $30 listings.

Imo if you’re willing to somehow to manage getting 2500 NMTs or actually cash irl money, then TT isn’t going to be that much of a challenge. Sure, it took me at least two hours to get him (one hour to look for him, another hour to get him to move in)?but honestly? It’s better than having to grind constantly grind and spend waaaay to much time and effort on him. After all, he’s just pixels.
