Why are there barely any threads regarding visuals? | Visuals Discussion...

I LOVE the visuals so much in this game. I thought NL looked so good when i got it, but compared to NH? oml. i’m in love

Can I just talk about Lolly’s design.
Like, I usually go for over the top cute or silly villagers like Judy or Kabuki.

I brought Lolly home because I was tired of visiting islands and figured I could give her to my sister. But now... now Lolly’s got me having second thoughts about letting her go.

It’s her texture. The texture just hits the right button for me. Like, Cookie is a dog but she looks smooth like a seal. Lolly looks like a fuzzy carpet. She LOOKS fuzzy. I can’t get over how detailed and good it looks! I literally want to keep her on my island because I love the way the back of her head looks. What is life? Thank you, Nintendo.

everyone looks so fuzzy and the water is so pretty and the buildings look crisp and the grass feels greener man idk T^T it’s so pretty i think my first day i just stared at the scenery.

i tried playing NL after getting over 250 hours in NH and my eyes could not do it 😔

I was just in my museum watching the bugs and fish and thinking about how pretty this all is.

let me just say... winter is absolutely GORGEOUS. I set my clock to January since it's my favorite season, but now I kind of want to keep it around there for most of the year, swapping back to real-time for events and things...

Oh...it's definitely a gorgeous game.

It's simultaneously realistic and cartoonish. Certainly an impressive feat to pull off with such a degree of accuracy. Too much in either direction and it wouldn't look anywhere near as special. But, there's a quality to everything that looks almost clay or felt-like. In many ways, this art style reminds me of something like Yoshi Wooley World...but more impressive in a lot of ways. I love playing at 6pm, during the "golden hour". The sun at that time is just gorgeous.

yes, yes, yes! the visuals in the game are breathtaking, and i'm absolutely in love with how they portray the shadows and natural lighting in this game! i have my diner booth table outside, and whenever the sun/moon is just right, you can see see the glare coming of the steel part! also whenever you walk into airport during the sunset, you can see the light pouring in like in real life. and i cannot talk enough about the shadows in this game, i don't know why but it just amazes me. they really nailed the visuals for this game!

I mentioned in another thread how amazing it looks when lightning strikes.

The textures of villagers are similar to Crafted World but there’s far more detail in this game.

I find the graphics in NH better than the previous games and it gets better if you play it on the monitor as well. I really like the water in the game, the detail when it’s raining or storming and the detail of the museum.

I love all of the tiny little details that they put so much thought into! One of my favorite moments is when a wind blows through the trees and rustles my dress and accessories. It actually feels like I'm on a tropical paradise and I love it <3

I also love how clear and blue the water is and you can see the rocks--especially around the airport. Makes me hope for diving coming back soon

The graphics are definitely a step up from previous AC games, although I don't think they're as good as other games on the Switch. Part of this may be due to the fact that you have a lot more control over the landscape in AC than you do in other games, so the details can't be as great, but to be honest for me the graphics are a little disappointing for 2020.

I love when it rains that rain drops hit your window when you're in your house. Honestly this game is so pretty. I love all the little details they added compared to previous games.

My friends thought i was insane because, before the game came out, the trailers actually brought me to tears!
I was so excited because of how beautiful the game was lol

I really like how everything looks wet during rainy days. Not just the trees and flowers, but the houses, roofs etc.

I’m also pleased how the grass patterns were implemented. The iconic triangle design is still there, but it blends in nicely and looks more natural than before.

Yes to everything in this thread. It's so clean yet detailed at the same time. I was really sad to let my little Ribbot go, but one of my favourite things about him was how they actually made him look metallic! The way light hits his "skin" and is reflected off it was really cool. I love all the small details like that, and have so many more praises for stuff like that.

The game is beautiful, but it's the art direction that makes me feel like I'm playing something special. I mean, that and the absurd attention to detail.

There's two long-running franchises that always had an almost incredible attention to detail, Animal Crossing and Yakuza. All the games in both of these series have details that most people wouldn't even think a dev would take their time to put in the game. But they're there, always.
