The graphics are definitely a step up from previous AC games, although I don't think they're as good as other games on the Switch.

but to be honest for me the graphics are a little disappointing for 2020.

I'm glad someone else feels like this to be honest, I don't really think they're anything to write home about. They're not bad, but they're not great either - they're just good, in my opinion. They're akin to mobile game graphics, which seems perfectly suitable for the kind of game AC is, but...they're pretty underwhelming too.

I will say the nicest part for me is the night sky. The gradients of colour are great, the stars look nice, shooting stars are cool. I also like that the chemtrails from the seaplane dissipate slowly over time.

I don't like how everything looks when wet, but I do like the ripples on the water from rain. I also don't like the moonlight reflecting off the grass - I think it looks kind of silly.

totally agree with @Hellfish
i could live in ACNH golden hour all day every day. it's so smooth, the textures of objects are so fully realized. and the way multiple light sources interact with each other - if you haven't done any 3D rendering, i'm not sure people how difficult it is to create soooo many sources and have them all be so fully realized and beautiful. it's skillful work and a big kudos to the dev team.

my partner the other day was like, there's one ac song that's ALWAYS playing when you're playing.....why? and i was like...cause.....5pm, baby,,,

wait also, SUPER DUPER shout out to the visuals of wallpapers?? sahara has gained access to the starship enterprise or something what to heck!!! the future tech papers, the misty garden wall, the sands, the cities, the lava??? it goes on. i come back to stare at this reddit pic all the time lmfao. it's outrageous

I agree. The textures and visual designs are phenomenal. Not to mention the subtle animations to things.
Spent 10 minutes staring at my snapping turtle because I just realized that he'll slightly move every few seconds even without you touching him.
Really amazing details they took the time to add and puts a lot of perspective into the work they've done.

Omg yes they are beautiful. The sky on my island was clear tonight and it was stunning. So many stars. The attention to detail in this game is incredible
