Why are "Original" Villagers such a big deal?

I can understand if a house contains furniture that normally wouldn't be obtainable, like a Diver Dan, the sloppy set, or cabana furniture.

Otherwise, meh. Whatever! More power to them!

I just think people don't want to deal with villagers having awkward items in their house because it takes long to "fix" it. I personally don't mind though.

After browsing the trade forum and acnl trade blogs, I was wondering the same thing since I myself, am not picky about a villager's originality or not. This thread was really enlightening. I am deliverT

I'll probably have to try a bit harder to get rid of Fang, then.

If I am lucky enough to get the villager I want, I'm not going to complain if they are original or not. I usually want low tier villagers, and they can be hard to find.

late to this, but heres somethin to consider ;)
1. if they have a changed catchphrase, it could be a problem because it could be something offensive. i got a muffy from the void who's catchphrase was the "N" word with l33t speak thrown in. that could be an issue, as many people could get very offended by it, and generally it's just a rude thing ;c
2. if their house has something different in it, it could be obstructing. i.e the marina i got cant get through the back of her house because she has a dresser, a fish and a bed all right alongside eachother and you cant access the other side. plus she has a bunch of bugs and it just sounds awful.

clothes i dont think are a huge issue unless they're a custom made thing and they're inappropriate.
basically, if people dont accept an offer because their clothes are different, it may seem a bit snobbish. but if its something bigger like a house change then people are less inclined too. it really just depends on the person who's buying :)
(another reason, also, could be for cycling purposes.)

I don't get this as well. Next time someone trades an super 0% original dreamy of my don't be afraid because I'll bid anyway.

I don't get it either. I see the appeal of original villagers, sure. But it's unrealistic to expect people to have original villagers. Because to have original villagers you can't really communicate with them because you can't change their catchphrase, or their clothes (but they do this on their own anyways so) and you can't give them items either by requests or by mail. To me, that just seems rude to not want someone's villager because they played with them. Especially since all of these things can be changed.

catchpharases are changed by telling Isabelle you have a problem villager..thus solved and quickly. I dont mind unoriginal either, its the animal that I like not their clothes etc. Also if you want original maybe they should wait naturally for that to occur and not buy the animal on a website JMO. Mine are played with, interacted with and I honestly wouldnt know what belongs in their house and what clothes theyre supposed to wear.

Its kinda like buying the used car or house and then complaining that its not perfect. You want perfect..buy it new..you want perfect animal, wait for the game to produce one in your town.

well I mean some type of things I can definitely see... like when I wanted Zucker I required him to have his sushi-conveyors in his house and his flan tank on because he has a boring, weird, brown house... and not too many clothes look good on him... but i had just 16 cycled to get him back, so I am probably not a good example lol!

I can kinda see where some people are coming from with some villagers having pretty unique houses. But 90% of villagers orginal houses are pretty bad to begin with.

I love refurbishing things and selling them to villagers and trying to make their houses look better, and even though it goes wrong half the time, I enjoy seeing some different furniture in their houses.

Probably because people like me indulge Molly any time she wants something, and her house is turning into a goddamn zoo XD

Couldn't care less about unoriginal. Isabelle can wipe letters and catch phrases and even clothing (right? lol). Only thing you can't deal with is houses.. but I like that they have a history...

anyway if anyone has Goldie in boxes pm me ;)

I never understood this either at first, but once I started hunting for dreamies I started to feel the same way.
It's true a villager is a villager, but there's something about an "original" villager that makes it better.

Some people don't want a villager's home filled with bugs and fish, they prefer a clean slate to work with, so to speak.
For some reason all I really cared about was them wearing their original shirt. I HATED the Able Sister clothes.

Now, I always have to ask if villagers are original because I paid 200+ tbt for Whitney, her house was a complete mess! She didn't even have a bed and her houe was filled with cicadas. I guess that's what makes her special and I always says she has a bug fetish lol.

I don't really mind if they're unoriginal, but i'd prefer it if I'm the one who trashes their house.

I'm not obsessed with being 100% original, but I've seen houses where villagers only have two pieces of furniture in their house. I wouldn't want to get that and have to fix it.
