Where is the Earth Day update?

Is anyone else a little confused why Nintendo hasn’t released this yet? I’m hoping they’re being secretive about it because it’s a big update and they don’t want anyone spoiling the surprise.

I was told it would be released on April 20th, but that doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s already 5am on April 21st in Japan.

Does anyone know when the update will be out?

Yes it is the 22nd! I just assumed the update would come before the actual day, like with the Bunny Day update

My guess is that it depends on what they have planned for the event. If they're not starting it early, like with Bunny Day, it could be possible they've planned something that just lasts for the day. Additionally, they could intend to start it on April 22 and have it last multiple days. Based off some of the Bunny Day criticism, I wouldn't be surprised if they did that to avoid people saying "I won't buy this game now if this is how you're handling updates."

We'll just have to see what happens in the next couple days, I suppose.

I think it'll be more of a feature update than an "event" I'm expecting bushes, maybe some topiaries like in NL, Leif will obviously be added, he might do a little somethig special on the 22nd, but I'm more so expecting him staying, and eventually opening a shop hopefully, or at least eventually joining timmy and tommy.

They probably wait until the very last moment until they release the update to avoid people spoiling the new content beforehand.
Japan is UTC/GMT +9. Assuming the update drops on midnight at the latest, we can probably expect the update on Tuesday (evening for Europe, noon for America)

The maintenance for the US side of things runs from 6pm-8pm Pacific time tonight. That's a little over 4 hours from this post before that maintenance period even starts. So we shouldn't expect to see the update until at least a little over 6 hours from now.

I never expected the Earth Day event to be anything other than one day. It's entirely possible that it's a pretty large update that actually adds Leif permanently to the shop. I'm kinda hoping for that. But...I definitely never expected anything to happen before the 22nd.

The update is adding more than just earth day. It will likely be downloadable tomorrow and activate once it is the 22nd irl like with bunny day or be available the morning of at 6am. There was also a bunny day update the day of the event to "Unlock" it to be playable.

The bunny day update was to do more than just add in bunny day (it added online functionality as well as other features for early release players) as us TTers could not play until it was unlocked via internet by nintendo at the specific time irl.
