What do Americains call Breaking Up?

Winter break, or whatever the season is. I'm pretty sure there's some others too but meh.

School Holidays are refered as Spring Break, Winter Break, Etc. but not "breaking up".

There was a Christmas in the Summer a long time ago but there was no gift giving it was just to celebrate the birth of christ but at some point the combined the two to make the current day christmas, we give gifts on chirstmas because of Saint Nicholas.
