Not true, Jesus wasn't even born in Winter Chirstmas comes from England from a Old Man named Saint Nicholas who made wooden toys and delivered them in Night to Children.

But it wasn't called Christmas. If it was, why does it have CHRIST in it?

There was a Christmas in the Summer a long time ago but there was no gift giving it was just to celebrate the birth of christ but at some point the combined the two to make the current day christmas, we give gifts on chirstmas because of Saint Nicholas.

AND to represent the giving of God's gift to us - Jesus.
