Yeah this is how I am thinking too. May day and Museum day are not guaranteed. Unless it's a holiday event or something that has been in most of the games, I don't think of it as guaranteed.

Nature Day Nook Mile achievements and May Day Museum Day stuff are not the same thing. As a reward last year you get Hedge DIY recipe from Tom Nook, which could also be rewarded from Leif afterwards if you missed the Nature Day event, but once you missed the May day or Museum Day you will never get those rewards such as Rover's Briefcase if they don't add those events back this year. Unless Nintendo want to make those rewards permanently unavailable I don't really think they'll ignore and just let them be.

But here's the thing, we got new items for Bunny Day and new seasonal items for March/April. Sure we got the Cool Globe, but they also could've made a new item reward for completing Earth Day NM+. Like Topiary from NL/HHD or something.
But you are correct otherwise.
We all just need to wait and see, we should see something next week if there is an update planned.
The Hedge DIY can be obtained from Leif anytime (be the very first person to purchase from him on 3 different days), hence it is understandable that the Nature Day can be removed.
Meanwhile, the events I mentioned have items locked behind it (Rover's briefcase, Stamp Rally rewards, and all the wedding set items). Also, if I'm not mistaken, seasonal items for May-June 2021 are also timelocked (Mother's Day, Father's Day, International Children's Day).
One must consider new players to the series. Also, Nintendo discourages time travel. So they cannot simply ignore that.

Who says they cant be ignored? lmao Nintendo has no issue releasing limted-time only items once and never again in a game, especially with Animal Crossing. They've literally done just that before in past AC games and they'll prob do it again with NH too. The only thing that's prob. safeguarded for reoccurance are the major holidays with their npcs. All other stuff, esp. promotional events and items are not guaranteed to reoccur. Hopefully I'm wrong, but yeah, thats happened before, so we'll just have to wait and see.

I hate to break it to you, but Nintendo has shown plenty of times before that they've got no qualms about locking players out of receiving limited-time available items.
probably within the next week or early next month, even if it's just a basic update for making events playable
At least I haven't seen them doing this to NH yet, so we'll see.

1 on Wednesday BUT this one was a part of a Nintendo Direct.
Typically they are released around the same time (me being EST, they usually come out before 12pm).
If a trailer comes out next week, which I think it will, then we will most likely get it Tuesday or Thursday with a tiny chance of Friday.
I'm also thinking early next week. I'm hoping it's an actual substantial update.. and not just something for May Day.
Going by how the last update dropped after the seasonal items went out of season, IIRC - the seasonal items stayed until March 17th, we got the update March 18th - I assume we'll get an update May 1st, since the prom items are available until April 30th. I'm doubtful they'll add a lot, though. Maybe a handful of new seasonal items and unlocking the new events for 2021.
I honestly don’t really think theres an updating coming any time soon. Maybe one in the summer, opening up whatever those docks might lead to. So many let downs just makes me feel like the team got the money they need and have moved on to splatoon 3
I'm not too surprised the updates seemed to have slowed down. They just gave us a full year of them, so it makes sense to skip a few months. It's not like Pocket Camp where the income relies on new content. I think E3 would be the place for the next update, though, whatever it may be. It's not too far off, and it could help rejuvenate interest since it will be in the summer (well, technically spring). I'm not sure if it would be a 2.0 update, though. I don't think the game is ready for that yet.

I think new content will come a month later with e3. I think they would be stupid to release it earlier. With such a huge audience at e3 they could sell so many more copies if they announced it there

4/28, and it looks like both the wedding and May Day events are coming back with new items. Glad they're not so quick to lock players out this time, but I hope we get QoL updates and more NPC's/functionality in addition to new items soon.
