I'm at the point of accepting villagers that I find interesting. I don't want repeat villagers since I got my dream villagers from playing New Leaf. It's time to give new villagers a chance haha. I would island hop a few times when I have an open plot to see if I can get an interesting villagers. I've always wanted Audie since the start and I've only used island hopped between 10-15 times. I got Raymond from an island after using 2 tickets for the time being. Despite what people think he's not my favorite but I had the intent to trade him for Audie once he moved out and it worked. I still prefer to trade for villagers. Otherwise I don't really have much use for island hopping to find "dream" villagers.

My experience is keep an open mind and take who your heart tells you. If you do this looking for one villager, it won’t be fun. Use it to try new villagers. I did this with Bones today

Yeah I need to try to do this; I got too picky yesterday because I was so set on finding the special one and just ended up more disappointed then I would've been accepting someone who was at least cool.
I have Dom on my island, when he leaves you can have him.
The best villagers I've found on NMT islands IMO were Beau, Aurora, Apollo, and Zucker. None of them were really my dreamies, but Beau was darn near that status, and I love him so he might as well have been.
Now I've also run into fan favorites, such as Sherb, Merengue, Molly, Marina, and Coco, but was in no position to take them.
I haven't run into a single villager from either of my favorite species (wolves and horses).

Oh my gosh, finally someone else whose favourite species is horses. It's so rare to find people who are fond of those villagers (Julian is the one exception because everyone loves a unicorn lol).

YES I love Papi! I would've searched for him, but since my friend has him, I'm trying to search for villagers that my friend group doesn't have. Elmer and Julian are by far some of my favs of all time (and yeah I ran into Clyde ew)

the luckiest i’ve gotten so far is finding dobie - it took me a bit of tickets (maybe around 15 or 20?) and it definitely was a lil frustrating and i came close to settling but i’m glad i didn’t. i find that while fun in short amounts, trying to dreamie hunt via the island is an overall frustrating experience and you’d probably be luckier using the campsite method or something along those lines

Yeah, if I TT'd I would definitely use the campsite method. Unfortunately I'm a purist so I'm trying to do this without any TT'ing whatsoever.
