What's the earliest memory you can recall?

My earliest memory was when I was a little younger than one, and I was living in an apartment in what was considered the 'worse' part of town. My mom was taking me across the hallway to see my aunt. Which is so weird, because I don't actually remember this until we watched the apartments getting torn down.

I think it was on my first birthday when I moved to the house I'm currently in. (Yes, I moved to a new house on my birthday.) All I remember is watching my parents and other family members help move furniture in. Nothing exciting.

Lying on the living room floor, on my back, while the intro to Star Trek was playing. My Dad was lying on the sofa watching the TV. I had to have been anywhere between 9 months-2 years based on the house we were in / the furniture.

I was really little and I still had to sleep in the afternoon and from my bed I could see our garden and my mother and grandfather were mowing the lawn and I LOVED "helping" when they did that so I was very upset and cried and wanted to get out but I still had a little kids bed, with bars around it so I fell over the bars out of my bed! My mother couldn't see me peeking trough the window anymore but heard me crying really hard so came looking, that was the earliest thing I can remember

I was in this bizarre swimming race with multiple contestants that looked completely identical to one another! The water was so warm and hard to swim in, but I think I won the race! I can't remember, I came into contact with this soft wall that then engulfed my entire body and tail! That's all I can remember.

Losing my favourite giraffe toy on a bus or in a caf? while I was out with my Nan (who sadly passed away like 8 years ago now) when I was like two or three

I think the earliest ones I remember are from when I lived in France.

I remember my older brothers taking me to a plaza a few blocks away from my house. Or going with my mom to a caf? that was also close to where we lived. I think we lived in a small town and could get anywhere walking. I must have been around 2 - 3 years old.

Preschool. I remember picking up flat plastic dinosaur toys and pretending it was a gun but after a lot of other guys were doing it. Then, we were havin a shootout.

I was 2 and I was walking around saying words and I said "****" and I remember it was either my dad or brother who came and washed my mouth out with soap. I hated it. But I remember later we were in the living room and I reached both mu arms up on the end table to drink out of the pepsi can from there. After I drank it the nasty soap taste went away. I had to have been maybe 1.5 or 2 years, that end table seemed pretty tall.

Oh Oh I was like a few months old in Disney World in a stroller with my brother. I was on the right side, and it was in Magic Kingdom, late morning. My cousin is jumping around having a blast, and she goes and sits in her stroller. I look up to the right and see trees lined up against the bright blue sky in the big long main "road" leading to the castle. The warm sun is on my face, and the Magic Kingdom Castle is in the background. For some reason I don't remember many people nearby, but there still were plenty, but not anything like when Magic Kingdom first opens up haha. This could have been a dream but idk, one of the happiest memories I can remember as well.

Crawling on the floor towards a window. My brother was on the floor and we were playing. Great grandma sitting in a chair near the window holding my cousin I mentioned before. The sun was really bright but warm and comforting. Everyone around me was smiling and laughing. :)

Sitting at my households new Windows 98 computer playing games online, often playing with the ads and getting viruses though...

Always stealing my brothers pokemon yellow version, listening to the opening intro which is so fun and happy sounding :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tmt8JlwLzOU

Always wanting to go to my cousins apartment which is attached to my house, and often just showing up there and playing and eating snacks :)

Coloring with my grandma and doing puzzles and sitting with her dog Suzy, which wasn't around long while I was little... Her dog always chewed up the puzzle pieces xD

Playing outside in the grass around where there was still a long white picket fence across my entire yard, but we later tore it down because it was kind of useless lol.

Halfway waking up and sleepwalking downstairs out of my room, unlocking the front door, walking out onto the porch, and screaming and crying for my mom :( My Uncle who lived in that apartment I mensioned earlier took me in and called my mom telling her what just happened.

Deleting my brothers save files all the time on pokemon, I just wanted to play the game but I couldn't read what I was selecting!!!! :(

Actually, all you people who are claiming to have memories from before 4 years of your life probably have false memories, you know, memories that your brain thought had happened and put there but didn't actually occur. It is rare that someone actually remembers stuff from that early, and I'm not saying that all of you are experiencing this, maybe some of you have older people to back you up like parents/siblings/family friends, but very likely, all these memories probably never actually happened. I doubt a 1-2 year old mind can keep that info in there while in such early development, but memory-related research is still really young sooooooooooo...

wow I'm sorry for posting such a grand speech. whoops ~ cx

This is a horrible memory, but it's one of those things that I have felt bad about all my life so it sticks with me.
I was 2 and at nursery, when I was in this little play house thingy and this girl took ages getting down the steps so I shoved her off. It was comical. I can't stop thinking about it though since the same girl goes to school with me now, 10 years later.

When I was 6 years old, I was looking at this huge fake plastic plant in my aunt's bedroom. She had a lighter on the same table the plant was on. "What would happen if I lit one of the petals on fire?" I probably wondered. Grabbed the lighter and lit it on fire. The whole thing caught on flames in like 10 seconds. I stumbled backwards, looking at the fire. Dropped the lighter, ran to the bathroom, turned the faucet on, "filled" my hands with water and then ran back to the plant. By then, all the water I was carrying in my hands was gone. So I just stood there staring at the not really wet floor and plant.

My aunt got in the room right after that and basically freaked out. She kicked me out of her room and dealt with the plant.

I remember something kind of freaky. It happened when I was learning how to speak in full sentences rather than just short words. And I think it was when I first started sharing a room with my sister. I could be wrong, I might be thinking of a different time frame. But anyway, it was night time, and I was just drifting off to sleep. But then I heard this little "plink" noise to my right (where my sister's bed was), so I looked over and saw this little toy baby bottle rolling out from under it. Then I swear I saw this shadowy thing stretch out from under the bed, and I heard this really sinister-sounding voice that said "I love to play." I screamed until my mom came in and turned on the lights, and I tried to explain to her what I saw, but I couldn't figure out the words I wanted to use, so she didn't really understand. I cried so much that she stayed there and rubbed my back until I fell asleep.

I don't really know if that's my earliest memory, but it's the one that sticks out in my mind the most. I'm sure there's some sort of explanation for me remembering it that way. Maybe I had some sort of hallucination. But I still can't sleep without a nightlight of some sort to this day. And I'm 22 years old. :u

Oh, and I also remember going to pick up my dad from an airport. I was REALLY sleepy so my mom let my sister and me go in our pajamas. I had a little tube of vanilla-flavored chapstick in my pocket. And I remember getting some Elvis coloring books at an airport, but I don't think that was from the same trip. (My dad was in the Air Force, and he went on TDYs kind of often.)

How could you be a few months old and remember something with that much detail?
