What inspired your Animal Crossing town name?

I forgot to mention that my e+ town is called Hohinda (ホヒンダ), named after the town from an old Animal Crossing manga called Dōbutsu no Mori: Hohinda Mura Dayori (どうぶつの森 ホヒンダ村だより / Animal Forest: News from Hohinda Village). I also named my character in that town Kotaro (コタロウ, Kotarō), after one of the characters in the manga. Then again, that was emulated (kinda) so I don't think it counts.

I named my new town Ordona, which was the first province you start out in from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It's a quaint little town with animals, nature, and a river running through it--just like in our Animal Crossing towns! :)

i looked up words that sounded nice. i found "irusu" a japanese word i think... but my sister switched it to isuru when talking to rover because she thought it sounded better

I am not very creative when it comes to names... My town's name is simply the name of a city that already appears in the pok?mon universe. It is the German translation of Blackthorn City in Johto. However, the name 'Blackthorn' goes very well with my town's theme I'm aiming for, since I am planning to have a lot of forestry and 'woody' atmosphere in my town.

The name Greens comes from just greenery in general. I wanted a town full of beautifully landscaped trees, bushes, and flowers. I've never landscaped a town so extensively before, and I wanted to see if I'd be able to do it. My mayor, Soy, is my nickname and also... Well. I'm sure you know what soy is. The other character in my town is Fern. A type of plant and the name of my character from Stardew Valley. It kind of made sense to put her in my town. The native fruit of Greens also happens to be the pear.

My other town, Memento, is a graveyard themed town. I made a thread and asked people to help me chose a name for the town. A memento is something physical you can keep in order to remember an event or person. The town itself is a memento of all those who have passed. It's also a reference to memento mori, which is a medieval Latin theory and practice of reflection on mortality. It serves as a reminder that we all die someday. The mayor, Arlon, can speak Latin. But mostly because it's a dead language lol.

i named my town Highland after the books/tv show Outlander which i am obsessed with.
my mayor is called Claire who's one of the main characters in the series.

I could of called my town Scotland, but Highland sounded better!

I named mine "Eliville,"(My Name's Elijah, or Eli for short") because I was a stupid 11 year old, who thankfully capatilized the name XD I've gone so far in the game that I would never rename it :)

I needed a name when starting my town. I looked at my copy of Smash Bros on the 3DS. I thought Smashing was a good name from the Smash in Smash Bros. It stuck and for about a year, almost two, it has stayed. I'm probably never making a new town on my cartridge, so the name will stay for a long time.

I might name my town either Palikare or Chavanon, or choose one and then use the other later. My mom named me after a book character that had owned and then sold her beloved donkey, Palikare. Chavanon is a small village in another book with a somewhat similar premise by the same author. They both fit the annoying 8-character name limit and both have a considerable meaning, so I think I'll be happy with either!

I miss Tea, but finally worked up the motivation to start my new town -- Howl! Wolves/dogs are my favorite (plus I like Howl's Moving Castle). It'll work out.

Has anyone read G.C. Levine's 'Fairest?' One of my favorite books <3 and I named my town Ayortha~ My two secondary characters are named Ijori and Aza, respectively ^_^

My towns name is named after a song, but apparently it isn't as unique as I thought, seems to be a fairly common name...

My town's name is Ivalice, the name of the world featured in some Final Fantasy games (XII and Tactics). It's a nice name and gets me a free pass to use a chocobo as town flag :)

I'd like to bump this to see other town name ideas. My new town name Hogwarts is inspired by Harry Potter, one of my favourite books ever. I also have the Harry Potter theme as town tune! My mayor is Hermine (german for Hermione) and she is supposed to be Hermione Granger. I hope I can find villagers that would fit a magic/wizard theme a little.
