What Does the Next Animal Crossing Game Need?

I think they should include more island tours and add new tours. Also, I kind of wish that you could buy/ sell fish/ bugs because sometimes they are just too darn hard to catch-- I understand why that wouldn't be a good idea though x3 Maybe adding more badges, and I think when people are visiting your town, you should have the ability to turn on/ off a setting saying things cannot be picked up/ flowers will not be destroyed if ruined on (kind of like in the flower tour on the island)/ tools cannot digs things up, etc.

Some of these may have already been mentioned, but here are my ideas.
-Grass seeds you can plant to bring back grass faster
-Be able to put furniture in between tiles like in Happy Home Designer
-Have a place where you can sell items to other players through the internet, but still have a place like Re-tail in case of no internet/the Wi-Fi service ends
-Still have Amiibo functionality but have more Amiibos be usable (Mario? Kirby? Anything we don't already have?)
-Have a bigger town if it's possible (For either more PWPs or more villagers. Either is fine with me.)
-Have a separate place to keep your tools so they don't fill your pockets (Yes, I know some people use their mail slots)
-Have a separate place to store Gyroids so you can collect them all without thinking you are wasting your precious space (Leaving 4 of them with Club LOL just isn't good enough)
-An easier way to change your player's skin color (I wouldn't use this but it's a great idea)
-Have more mail storage (It bothers me that in New Leaf, the mail is shown on the bottom screen and therefore I can't take screenshots to make me store less mail)
-New species of villagers (Snake, bat, chinchilla, anything really.)
-Be able to turn on at least two ordinances at once (What if I want beautiful town and night owl both on? Obviously early bird and night owl can't both be on if this happens.)
-Be able to choose where villagers move in
-More space for custom designs (Active ones, not just ones stored with Mabel)
-Villagers have more unique things to say so you don't start getting really bored especially with more than one of the same personality
-More minigames
-More jobs the player can do to earn bells or items (We currently have The Roost and random requests from villagers)
-Region exclusive items can be earned a different way in versions that normally wouldn't get them (I'm not entirely sure about this one)

Honestly, this is probably an unpopular opinion... but nothing, really. Maybe a few things that HHD had like rugs, sure.. but if they decided to port New Leaf to Switch, I'd probably be fine with that.

I've just thought of this now, but when I've moved out villagers and they appear on my main street, I'd like them to tell me which town they are currently living in (if they are) as I get curious.

Another one that I've thought about before is getting a golden wetsuit when you complete the crustaceans catalog, similar to how you get gold tools when you complete the bug and fish catalogs

Lol that's a fun idea. Unfortunately wetsuits don't count as tools so that would be a hard sell. I agree, though, we should get something for finishing the deep-sea life encyclopedia besides a gold badge

For me, I would like to see,

*Female jocks
*Better camera angles
*Ability to decorate outside including the beach
*Bigger house
*Be able to give your favorite villagers gifts for no particular reason.

The next AC game needs for the mayor to be able to place the villager's houses wherever they want. It would be such a useful feature and a lot of people would use it. tbh I'm shocked they didn't implement that into New Leaf. It would also be interesting if there was a story to the next AC game. it would really give it more depth and more people would play it if it weren't always so grindy.

You arrive, a prisoner on a boat. You are released into the world. You try to go to Balmora for work. Along the way, you discover you are the Nerevarine.

Why does everyone’s Animal Crossing character play as a sneaky bow user?!

There is another thing the next Animal Crossing need: The freaking observatory. But bigger
and better.

It was one of the best things Wild World and City Folk had and I was pretty disappointed
back then when I found out that it wouldn't be in New Leaf. I still don't understand why it
isn't in New Leaf and I definitely want it back in the next new AC main game.

Because I've been thinking about this lately (excited for SSBU, but also would've loved an AC announcement), some points...

  • Gotta agree with OP on at least skin color customization, if not full character creation, because I also hope it'll limit tanning. I don't tan, I burn, and like most people, I want my character to look like me. Also, no matter how much a white person tans, they're not gonna turn black. For all I care, give us a stupid question like if we think we would be a polar bear, a grizzly bear, or a black bear, if we were a bear.
  • I got into fish for a while, and I would love proper aquariums. For instance, schooling fish should display as a school, not a single fish - in the same way a bee swarm turns into a single bee.
  • Camera angles everywhere
  • Half tiles, like in HHD
  • Basically anything from HHD that's not currently in the game
  • Also all the new Pocket Camp content
  • Maybe food instead of fortunes? So instead of Katrina and having to wear a lucky item, there's a character who comes and sells you food items, and if you eat the food it gives you a buff (but please also let us display it, it'd suck if the food items were cute and we just automatically ate them).
  • Have villagers request clothes again, like they used to in WW. It's so hard to have a villager change clothes now.
  • Someone mentioned the ability to destroy/relocate rocks, and I think that's a great idea. For instance, you can destroy one per day, but the next day it spawns again in a random location, so you still have the same amount of rocks but have at least some control.
  • Let villagers catch bugs and insects! I feel so bad whenever I see one fishing or stalking a bug to know they'll never catch it.
  • I would love being able to customize buildings like we could in HHD. Just being able to change the shop exterior would be great (Re-Tail with its pastel colors is my worst enemy when it comes to landscaping), but I think a lot of people used the extra museum rooms to make something like this, and it'd be great to see the villagers interact with them.

In no particular order, and I'm sure some of this has already been mentioned.

1. Being able to center furniture like in HHD/Pocket Camp
2. Don't make white the default skin color, let people choose their skin tone from a wide range of options from the start.
3. Separate pocket for tools, so they don't take up all my item space.
4. Let cedar trees grow all over the map, not just in the North.
5. Maybe more plants/fruits - You could have bushes that grow berries for example. That'd be kind of cool.
6. Let the town name be more than 8 characters long.
7. More activities (like hide-and-seek) to do with villagers.
8. I know this would probably never happen, but I think it would be cool if they let you select which holidays you want to celebrate. I'm not Christian, but my town celebrates Christian holidays like, Christmas, Easter, etc. I think it'd be cool if you could select certain holidays you want to celebrate in-game. Like Ramdan just ended, and it would have been cute if my animals were like "Eid Mubarak!" or if someone is Jewish, maybe a "Happy Hanukkah!" for example. But tbf I know these holidays they do choose to celebrate are seen as commercial holidays, rather than religious - especially in Japan. Still, it would be cool/more realistic experience that way for me. :p
9. See your side characters in their homes/walking around town when you're not playing them.
10. Make sloth, llama, owl, and hedgehog villagers!
11. Maybe a bicycle like they have in the pokemon games, to get around a little faster.
12. Have the option to hand an animal a gift directly/without being prompted/having to mail it, or actually be able to offer them food/drinks when they visit your house.
13. Allow all rocks to be removed/relocated
14. Be able to choose to saction off specific areas where you allow villagers to move in, so littering your town with paths is unneeded.
15. More mini-games, like working at Brewsters (Maybe one at like Club LOL would be cool.)
16. See friendship levels with villagers.
17. Allow us to give make-overs to our villagers whenever we want, so we don't have to tolerate ugly clothes.
18. Allow us to offer to re-do their interior design, like in HHD, if we don't like what they've done with their place.
19. I know this is kind of random, but I think it'd be cool to be able to place a bridge over a pond.
20. Instead of how we currently place PWP, let it be like a bigger version of placing furniture in a room.

I thought of a few more. haha

21. Let us put hats and glasses on villagers like in Pocket Camp! (This in addition to letting us choose to give them a "make over")
22. Maybe give us the option to help villagers expand their houses - this would add some variation in towns, and give us a new way to interact with villagers (especially if we can do the interior designing for them)
23. When vistors comes, give us the option to give or take away their ability to use tools in our town and/or pick up items. (Also as they leave, approve or deny a list of things they're leaving with - maybe have a separate box like they have when leaving the island at each train station for big orders - That way no one can steal anything.)
24. Allow us to place Recycle and City hall where we want, instead of randomly generating it.
25. Maybe this would ruin one of the ideas/points of the game, but sometimes I wish I could "turn off" allowing villagers to move out. If I am happy with who I have in my town, I don't like being pinged saying they want to move, and I really don't like if I miss the pings, and they move out unepxectedly. haha

I keep thinking of things as I play ACNL xD Anyway, another thing, I think we should be able to friend people on the island in the same way you would friend someone/ best friend them in another person's town

More neighbors, choice of skin tones, more eye shades like lavender, red, pink and gold, players having the choice of neighbors moving or not moving (no more pinging).

Another thing I thought of - I want tools to stop using up item slots in your pocket. Let them have their own dedicated menu or something. With the exceptions of the watering can and the axe, I tend to carry around all of the other tools all the time just in case I see a balloon to shoot down or some bug or fish appears or whatever the case may be. It gets really annoying to have less item slots thanks to the tools.

Though, honestly, item management is one of my biggest annoyances with Animal Crossing in general that seems to only get worse with each game. There's so many unorderables in NL, and they added a ton more even with Welcome Amiibo. The unorderables practically encourage hoarding because what if you want to use it later. Even with the new item storage Welcome Amiibo added, it's still not enough.

Also all the new Pocket Camp content

I feel like there's a very large chance of that happening. Most Animal Crossing items seem to carry on to the next game (plus a bunch of new things) and the Pocket Camp items were already created. There's also going to be some percentage of the AC players that haven't played Pocket Camp that won't be bored of those new items, so they may as well include them.
