What do you keep in your storage vs sell?

Do you only keep unorderable items? Or everything you collect, or what?

I'm a hoarder and have finally filled my fully expanded storage completely! So I'm about to go through and look for duplicates to sell but other than that I'm not sure what to get rid of next haha!

Interested to know how hoardy/otherwise people are, haha! Thanks!

I only keep things I intend on using later. Anything else gets sold because, hey, I can always just order them again later! And if I have anything unorderable that I don't want, I'll usually pawn it off on my mom who's a hoarder like yourself.

i keep items i think i might use and clothes i'll wear, then the rest is resources. when i get filled up I make the hard decision of selling off stuff i'm not using making sure i can reorder it if i find i finally need it. I don't sell off any unorderables but I may of accidentally sold some gulliver items not knowing what they were >.<

I keep items I think I'll end up using for decorating my house/island and clothes I think I'll wear -- the rest is materials.

Admittedly, 80% of the items and clothes that I store I actually never use or wear again, so I will start Marie Kondo'ing my storage to clean it up. X)

I am a hoarder! :) I keep unorderables, crafted furniture that I think I might use, some clothing (not a lot since I use mostly custom designs), and materials, genuine and fake art. For the non craftable unorderables, I like collecting and keeping multiple copies of the items in case I want to decorate with them as well as sell.

Thanks all! It's interesting the differences in play styles, like how some are super organized only keeping things that are beneficial to keep and others are a bit like me just keeping everything haha!

Well I've been through and deleted all my duplicates (except a few things for totally logical reasons hahah), I'm now down to 1445/1600 which I have no doubt will get filled pretty quickly (I've got in the habit of keeping bugs and fish lately to get the models off Flick and CJ which isn't helping - also been keeping certain diving creatures as hoping models will be available for those at some point!) so I'm gonna have to go through soon and get rid of orderables as at least I can re-order them if necessary! I'm just so worried I'll accidentally sell an unorderable although I don't know why as there's always the option of buying things on here anyway! Someone directed me to a really helpful site (was it mori DB maybe?) where I could search items and it said if they were orderable or not but being me I can't remember, anyone know the site please?

moriDB was only for new leaf so you might be thinking of villagerdb:

I think you're referring to VillagerDB, though I personally use Nook Exchange. :)

Also, I remember the time when I was waiting for both C.J. and Flick to show up on my island the first time... had 300+ inventory slots taken up by fish and bugs.

I keep clothes, materials, and fruit in storage. And, any furniture/wallpapers/floors I think look cool and plan on using later. Congrats on your expansion!

I keep unorderables, mostly. On the furniture side of that, it really isn't much.

Resources are the next biggest item, as I try to keep 4-5 stacks of everything except fruit (no storage) and shells (2 stacks each). I have quite a few bugs right now, earmarked as models for Flick. A few other expensive bugs and fish are there, too, but that will go down, in time.

My main storage is clothing, but I've gotten a bit more strict on that. I only keep unorderable items or things I'll actually wear. I am a completionist, so I buy everything from the shops, but I go back and prune things from storage after that.

I pretty much wear skirts and dresses, so I've only kept a couple pairs of pants. Anything in not crazy about the look goes - some tops and dresses aren't my style.

I have more in storage than I'd like - about 1,200 - but I can sell a bunch of summer clothes in a few weeks, which will give me some room.

I put most of the items I get in storage and end up selling what I won't or haven't used when my storage starts to fill up. I do keep unorderables and I usually keep a lot of clothing items.

It's mostly unorderable extras I'm keeping to sell/use in the future and lots of clothing! I'd say its 60% clothing, 20% unorderables, 10% mats and tools, 10% other regular items! :)

I am a hoarder, i keep everything just in case I want to trade or use it outside. So far, my storage is half way full. Some day it will be full...

I just keep stuff I think is neat. I have so much furniture that I know I won't use, but it looks nice so I keep it. I also have tons of clothes that aren't my style cuz it's real easy to buy something and have it sent to storage right away, and then I'm too lazy to take it out. I'm a hoarder. I have a problem. My max storage is like 50 away from getting full.

Oh, I also have like 3 of each bug and fish so I guess that's also a decent chunk of space.

I forgot to mention earlier that I’m also hoarding bugs (mostly butterflies), fish, sea creatures, a few fossils and all of sahara’s wallpapers and flooring; that and the hardwood and softwood is what is probably taking up most of my storage space. I love the butterfly models and fish models (even though some of them are really disappointing like the betta model; it looks so flat when i rotate it to look at the other side) and probably have more than what I’ll end up using - and I’m considering collecting all of them (at least for cataloguing purposes since i really don’t like a lot of the bugs).

When my pocket storage starts getting full, I just start dumping random items in there. I have ordables and non ordables. When that gets full, I start selling the ordables.

Unorderables that are impossible or very difficult to get without trading and extra stacks of materials mostly.

I definitely keep all the unorderables and furniture I think I may use down the line. But my biggest hoarding problem is clothes...I think it’s more than half my storage at this point! I also keep at least a stack of each flowers, fruits, shrubs, and resources just in case

once in a while I go through my storage and empty it out as best as I can but it always ends up near max lol

I only store and keep everything I want to use (or think I'll use) in storage. Even if it's unorderable, if I don't like it or cannot see myself using it, I see no reason to keep it. Sometimes hesitate on trophies but they just collect dust in storage and I don't want to showcase them anywhere.

Right now there's a lot of duplicate furniture (e.g.: zen cushions, benches, street lamps), fruit, and materials. Eventually I'll start to sell materials if I have 20+ stacks of one. Clothing is also something I tend to hoard. I often have to go in and do a wardrobe clean-up every few weeks. 😅
